Frank Mysterio's custom Rebel Ink "Mictlan" figure is urban azteca!

Frank Mysterio has transformed the typically urban looking 7" Rebel Ink platform into the above pictured Aztec inspired work of art. Entitled "Mictlan," after the Aztec's underworld, this figure has been exquisitely sculpted — especially in the face and hat details — with a superb paint job to match… just look at that fantastic linework on the figure's back, for instance. This piece has already been purchased, but you can commission Mysterio to make a custom of your own by contacting him at disenodgi [at] gmail [dot] com.

Travis Lykins (of Urban Vinyl Daily) shares his custom Dunny named "Phil"…

Travis Lykins, co-owner of the Urban Vinyl Daily site, has shared with us this custom 3" Dunny named "Phil." Created using sculpty to remake the head and acrylics to tone the design, Phil is a bit too much of an art brut piece for my taste. I do like the Tiki or tribal vibe the face gives off, though. If anyone is interested, Lykins is selling "Phil" for $50… interested parties should contact him at travislykins [at] gmail [dot] com.

*REVEALED* Jon Paul Kaiser's Dunny 2012 design!!!

Well look what we have here... the elusive design from UK based artist Jon Paul Kaiser for Kidrobot's Dunny 2012 series. Thanks to the photo from My Plastic Heart that you see above, this rad undead samurai is looking really nice... and a great way to hit the ground running with his first production Dunny! Rumor has it there are more than just this one version... in fact, we have heard that there are 4 color variants in this series... that is only speculation of course... but that would be a killer army indeed! More info once we get it!

Update... we just ran across another version, and in my opinion... this red/black version is much more striking than the normal black/white that we see from JPK. We also get a peek at the back of this design... which features some pretty cool elements as well. So maybe the rumors are true... maybe there are more versions of this figure.

J★RYU knocks out another amazing batch of customs, this time using the 3" Dunny platform. Made exclusively for Singapore's Flabslab Gallery, these "Singapore Sultan" customs incorporate J★RYU's fantastic sculpt effect to make the vinyl look like wood. And, while it could be a trick of the light, it looks like there are two versions, a regular and a chase, one with gold embellishment and one with silver. Only 20 of these figures were made and you can contact get [dot] flabby [at] flabslab [dot] com for purchasing inquiries, though the exact price is unknown to us.

Most Wanted Series 3 release details & box art revealed!

You know something is good when fans have been rabidly waiting to see even the box art, right? Well, here it is… the front image (with a tad from each side too) for Most Wanted Series 3's box design, created by Sergio Mancini. But our information doesn't end there… As we previously announced, the majority of the remaining Most Wanted blind boxes will be available on June 30th at 12 Noon PST in the Series's online shop, but there will be a second (smaller) release on July 9th at 6PM PST. Why two releases? Manny Rivas informs us that while "there will be only a handful of blinds left for that [second] release," it is being done because "we know some our fans may not be around for the first one." The official price has been set at $98 (plus shipping) per blind box and — of course — each custom Dunny will come with an artist card or, in the case of Ryan the Wheelbarrow's contributions, a signed & numbered silkscreened card (which we revealed HERE)!

Still not enough information for you?!? Well, how's this: not only will there be a Golden Ticket "Dunny" by Gomi, but also a Silver Ticket Dunny by Ryan the Wheelbarrow! Wait, why is Mark "Gomi" Troup's piece in quotation marks? That's specifically how the information was sent to us and, I'm guessing, it might indicate that Gomi has taken a non-Dunny platform and remodeled it to resemble a Dunny; mind you, completely a guess on my part. "But wait, there's more!" shouts Manny Rivas. "We'll be randomly inserting some very special gifts in a handful of orders." Oh my! Talk about lots of bang for your buck here, folks…

Hoakser's "Gammy" custom Trikky Munny is battered & bruised!

Hoakser's newest custom is a Trikky named "Gammy," which appears to be a seriously abused cat. The paint job looks as sound as ever and there are tons of little sculpted details that are just right, but — I have to admit — that viciously bruised face is just a tad to rough looking for me… since I know Hoakser is capable of a clean sculpting, I'm going to have to assume this is what he wanted it to look like. I would've preferred the eyes and mouth to be a little slicker, but I do understand this roughness helps accentuate the brutally beaten nature of the figure. I do think, though, that the single tear drop from his eye is disturbingly real looking. This figure is currently available in Hoakser's online shop for £45 (approx. $70).

VISEone's custom comic stripped "Hobbes" Qee honors Bill Watterson!

At the beginning of the year, VISEone paid a loving homage to Bill Watterson's Calvin and Hobbes comic strip in the form of a 16" custom Qee. What surely started as a passion project for the artists quickly became a high demand piece in his oeuvre, which spurred VISEone to revisit the concept in a limited edition run of 3 custom 8" Qees. Each one is carefully resculpted with apoxy clay before being tightly coated in a collage of images from the comic strip. Then some semi-transparent acrylics are applied, with a little intentional looseness to the line, much like Watterson exhibited throughout his wonderful career. And, in the end, you have the most brilliant looking tribute to the character of Hobbes — and the unlimited creativity of youth — that you could ever ask for. The remaining pieces from this edition are available in VISEone's online store for €150.00 (approx. $190).

Play Imaginative's new Happy Tree Friends Trexis & Devilrobots TO-FU figures!

Play Imaginative have a bevy of new releases on the horizon… and that horizon is approaching quickly, as these figures are all set to ship by the end of June! Pictured above is not only the new series of Trexi figures, but a release that also marks a new licensing partnership between Play Imaginative and  Mondo Media. These "Happy Tree Friends" Trexi figures each stand 2.5" tall and form the "Naughty & Nice Edition," called so because each piece's head can be twisted around to change between their gentler and more mischievous sides.
Above we have the first of three releases designed by Devilrobots: "Color Pop! TO-FU." Yes, the popular 4" tall kawaii figures are back… and each of the seven characters in this series feature frosted heads, hands and feet to really make those colorful bodies pop.
Then Devilrobots team-up with Play Imaginative to deliver the "Evirob (Original) Vinyl Art Figure." The four-inch form of "Evirob lurks around the battleground; beware the evil that surrounds! Deep and dark, where the weirdest things are, everything looks a little bizarre!"
And finally we have a Devilrobots's TO-FU in Trexi form! Merging the two most popular characters in the Devilrobots universe, this 2.5" figure is half-Mother TO-FU & half-Son TO-FU. Plus you can spin around the top of the head to change out those wonderful eyebrows!
