SLICK x DISSIZIT - "Yin Yang" LA Hands

Back at SDCC 2010, SLICK released the first 4 versions of his vinyl LA Hands figures, and just announced is the 6h version dubbed "Yin Yang" from SLICK x DISSIZIT! This simplistic approach to design works very well on this figure, and I just love the swapping on color from one hand to another! There is no word on a quantity just yet, but if it like any of his other releases, they will be very limited! You can snag up this 6" tall figure HERE right now for just $40... a great deal if you ask me.

Ecstasy brings thier "Mini Zita" series to the USA

Ecstasy, the Taiwanese lifestyle and apparel brand, is just about ready to bring their Zita Mini Toys 'Series 1' to America. Zita is the brand’s main mascot, and represents all the fun and freshness they have to offer. The Zita Mini Toys 'Series 1' is available soon with 6 different colored, 2.5" tall Zita figures, with a surprise colorway being the secret chase. The suggested retail price is $8, and interested retailers can check with DKE toys to see when they will be available for distribution. Now, as weird as these little guys look... at least it is something different in the way form. There are really too many platforms out there that start blending into one another, so it's great to see. Granted, these are really not my cup of tea... I can see alot of people digging the quirky aesthetic.

Can you believe how rad this figure is... and it's tough to believe that it's a Munny! Olek - Synthetic Nature!!!!!

OH DEAR. By the looks of this video, I missed quite the opening party at Krause Gallery. Luckily I ran over to the Lower East Side and hid inside of this wonderous installation on my onesy. Lady Olek lives in New York HOORAH and I get a smile on my face when I bump into her crocheted trolley in my East Villy hood. No yarn this time but balloons, Olek co-lab'd with David Peterson to create this delightful wobbly cave of curiosity. Read more HERE...OH OH and HERE.

Planet Domu's Heavy Metal Qee is a Biological Hazard!

Above is Sam "Planet Domu" Griffiths's contribution to the upcoming Heavy Metal Qee project and there's a lot of 'wow' to be had in this custom 8" piece. I love the simple design and elegant execution, from the flames on the arms with their little "Danger" logos to the Biological Hazard warning on his head. The tusks, the smoke stakes, the tank turret, all brilliant little touches. Yet another fine custom show that is shaping up spectacularly.

INSA's "Self Reflection is Greater than Self Projection" pictures!

You might recall we announced the one-night only INSA installation at Londonewcastle, which opened last night. And thanks to the wonderful Ian Cox of WallKandy.net, we have quite a few amazing photos of the installation to show off.

And, as you may recall, the first 50 people present at the event were given a free signed & numbered INSA print, which looks a lot like this…

Lunabee's "Atlantis" custom for the Play Imaginative x Disney Mickey Mouse show!

Always adorable, completely cute, and definitely delightful… yes, we must be talking about a new custom by Lunabee. "Atlantis" is the artist's contribution to the Play Imaginative x Disney group show of Mickey Mouse customs. Completely hand-painted, you can see her wonderful attention to detail as well as her captivating imagination spilled forth in all its dreamy glory; each fish is so lovingly rendered, the octopus ear is perfectly designed, and I simply can't get enough of those shoes! The finishing touch of the aquarium net is just icing on an already perfect cake.

Trust Pigs needs your help on Kickstarter! Get some sweet Star Wars inspired swag!

"Help me, Obi-Wan Kenobi. You're my only hope," is the plea Princess Leia makes early in the first Star Wars film; it's an iconic line, an iconic movie, an iconic trilogy. And now I make a similar statement: "Help me, SpankyStokes readers. You're my only hope."
In a couple of weeks, I have a Star Wars-themed solo art show opening entitled "I have a bad feeling about this." In preparation for the show, I've maxed out my budget buying supplies and other sundry items with which to make pieces with. But I really want to be able to offer four-color silk screened t-shirts of my Fancy Fett design at the opening. Thus, I've turned to Kickstarter.
The goal is to raise $500 in 3 days, with which I can afford to have the shirts printed. Rewards include not only copies of the t-shirts (as seen above) but a couple of signed & numbered screen prints I had made for the show as well. And literally, every dollar donated would help and is appreciated. Please check out my Kickstarter campaign HERE and — if you want — donate to it. I thank you in advance and apologize for this break from the 'normal' news on the site…

AW177 x RAWRS's Golden Dragon Bistumo custom!

Four-and-a-half inches of smooth vinyl, seven points of articulation, and one hand-tied mawashi… it could only be a Bitsumo figure. Touted by Bitsumo creator Dai "RAWRS" Tran (also known as Daibot) as one of the first customs of the platform, the above picture is Allen "AW177" Wen's wonderfully detailed "Golden Dragon" one-off on the new "Lunar New Year" colorway. The hand-painted dragon tattoo in gold is superb looking, with every line placed just right and performed perfectly. This, as well as a "Yakuza Bitsumo" by Alex Shilin, will be available at the RAWRS online shop on April 2nd at 9PM EST; each custom will run you $150, which is really reasonable considering the figure alone goes for $65.

Gangtoyz Customs launches a line of artistic iPhone cases…

French designer Gangtoyz Customs has decided to venture forth into the world of iPhone cases and the four you see above a mere sampling of the dozen (or so) they have released. The artwork is clean and solid, though it does remind me of others in style… a little Huck Gee here, a little Jeremy Madl there, some Jhonen Vasquez splashed somewhere, etc. Priced at €18.00 (approx. $25) each, these rigid plastic shells are available at the Gangtoyz online shop.
