Brandt Peters and Kathie Olivas '
Stranger Factory' art space is proud to present “
Late Season” a two-person exhibition by Ohio artists
Chris Ryniak and
Amanda Louise Spayd. Both artists explore the ideas behind the rooted transition and personification of harvest time, including the melancholy of the ultimate expiration of rot and decay. Both Chris and Amanda create some of the most eerie creatures out there... all of which have some seriously life-like appearance making the viewer wonder... do I dare touch that??? Above a few preview pictures of what to expect from these two talents... oh, and expect some surprises. The exhibition opens November 18th with a reception from 6pm-9pm, where both Chris and Amanda will be in attendance... some amazing work is going to be on display at this show, can't wait to see some
on site photos.

During SDCC 2010, I had a really nice chat with Mark Landwehr of
Coarse Toys... where one of the things I asked him about was how he felt about people using his art pieces and doing customs on them... now I don't remember verbatim what he said but it was along the lines of he didn't like when people did that to his pieces. Fast forward a year, and now Coarse has just announced their very first DIY figure... and it's a familiar one that. Titled "Paw!Raw", Coarse is on a mission to protect and or salvage released editions, and the 12'' Paw! figure is their first offering! This comes painted in untouched white and is on sale
HERE now for a limited time only. There is no limit on how many you can order, but at $165 a piece... I can see people snagging up 2-3 of these at a time! This really makes me ask the question now... what else will these guys release in the "Raw" form... I guess that all depends on the sales :-)

Woah!!!! This is awesome... is what I said when I first saw this amazing painting that Matty of
Smash Tokyo Toys commissioned fine artist
Robert Kim to complete! Titled "The Centurion Approaches", this awesome piece is something that MAtty has had in the works for some time now and he tells us that "
There is a toss up as to whether I will be doing this as the new STT japanese vinyl toy next year with Velocitron or will in fact do a crazy female soft vinyl called "Jumbo Villain Pilot" instead, and these are not the Centurions' final colors but are a tribute to the Getta Dragun who Centurion is a direct spoof/rip off." I love how stylized the piece is, and how grand this robot seems... just the scale of the buildings and the people on the ground... epic on all accounts! Matty is working now on getting this made into a limited run of prints... so keep your eyes peeled for those to drop!

Richard Page of
UMETOYS continues to impress me with his super stylized creations... and one of the really cool things about his process is that he normally starts out with a sketch (seen to the left)... and his latest creation, the 'Iron Man suit', turned out fantastic. As you can see from the sketch, Rich is able to translate his long noodly limbs, bulbous body, and all around styliztic interpretations from 2D to 3D form seamlessly! This is a one off sculpted piece and it stands 8" or make that 9" if he's attached to the rig that goes along with it. Great stuff right?!?! You can see this piece as well as many other fantastic creations from Rich at the upcoming
Thought Bubble Comic Convention that is happening November 19th – 20th. For more pictures, please visit Rich's flickr site

For the upcoming 'Epic Adventures of Swampy McSwamperton' custom show that
Blamo Toys is putting on, artist
Gary Ham took his all wooden base Swampy figure, and turned him into a epic looking handball champion... how perfect is this! It appears that Gary did not add anything to this figure except for paint, oh... there is a racquet ball, but other than that he totally transformed this figure! I love the painted on knee-guards, gloves, and the painted on goggles... a perfect fit for sure! This show is happening on November 17th, 2011 in San Francisco at the
Million Fishes Gallery, so be sure to come out to see this piece, as well as many others in person!

Many of you know the super talented Holly S. aka A Little Stranger for her adorable Cavey plush designs, but what some of you may not realize is that she is a super talented customizer as well and above is proof of just that! She was recently asked to be in the upcoming "
Beware the Tall Grass" show, which going down on November 18th 2011 at
Kidrobot London, and for said show she created an awesome creature called "Taxiderm-eevee"! This little love lump stands 20" tall and is a a one-off piece of rogue taxidermy, made form scratch using wood, faux furs, wire and acrylic. All his fur has been trimmed and painted by hand to give a realistic finish. As the story goes "
Imagine if our favourite Japanese characters were real and lived among us? Taxiderm-eevee is a piece of rogue taxidermy, exploring what it would be like if one of my favorite characters, Eevee, were a real animal that had been captured and preserved for future generations. Imagine what we could learn from this fascinating creature!"... and how creepy cool did this turn out, I would love to have this guy chillin in my studio... then again, he kinda gives me the chills!

Based off a series of drawings, from what I can tell, is a new group of resin figures that have been created by an artists who's moniker is
Patient No.6. Now these figures are unlike anything I have seen before, and as weird as they look... I kinda dig them. They are super abstract in nature, and after visiting their website
HERE all I get is even more confused as to what or who or why... super cryptic. In any case these figures are up for grabs via their online shop
HERE, and there are a bunch of different versions to choose from... all of which vary in size and price. So head on over and give these interesting figures a gander!
