Miss Zukie and her "Zukie's"

We like hearing from new artists out there... and most recently we got a rad email from artist Alison Perez aka Miss Zukie, who is a a contemporary artist living in New York. She tells us that she works with variety of mediums for example wood, canvas, airbrush, spraycan and more, and has been working on a little character she is calling Zukie... quite fitting actually, as it's her artist name!

These Zukies are mysterious characters that do not talk; they have thought bubbles and facial expressions. Zukies are about color... and Alison tell us that in her life color has always been a way to express feelings, and she wants to convey though her little designer figures that vocal communicating is not necessary as nonverbal behavior increases the bond between people and is an intimate way of communicating. These Zukies are made in all forms, painted on wood, watercolor on small recycled paper, 3-D molds and other. I would actually really like to see a refined sculpt of her figure, and then cast resin pieces made... I think with such a strong theme when it comes to character creation this could really have some legs... as I like the rainbow of colors she has been using in her pallet thus far!
