One of the longtime pioneers of the Filipino art toy movement is heading back to
ToyCon Philippines this June… and he’s bringing a very special release with him. Filipino artist and designer
JEAA will officially participate in TOYCON PH NEXUS taking place June 12–14, 2026 at SMX Manila in the Philippines… where he’ll be releasing a limited edition version of his iconic
ROBOX character.
For collectors who’ve been around the scene for years, ROBOX carries serious history behind it. Originally released back in 2007, the handcrafted urban art toy was developed from JEAA’s “99 Lives” digital artwork series… evolving into what feels like a painting transformed into a three-dimensional collectible sculpture. The character helped define a huge era of the Philippine designer toy movement and went on to win multiple ToyCon Philippines toy design contests in 2008, 2009, and 2010.
Visually, ROBOX perfectly captures JEAA’s gritty mixed-media aesthetic… blending urban decay, layered typography, industrial textures, sketchbook markings, and emotional storytelling into one cohesive art style. His work has always felt deeply personal while still carrying that unmistakable street-art energy that designer toy collectors gravitate toward.
Beyond ROBOX itself, JEAA has spent nearly two decades helping build and support the Filipino art toy community through Urban Toy Design PH and his studio LAB520. His resume stretches across painting, photography, skate deck design, graphic design, sculpture, and collectible art… with exhibitions and collaborations happening both locally and internationally.
The upcoming TOYCON PH NEXUS release feels less like a simple convention exclusive… and more like a celebration of one of the foundational creators who helped shape the scene.
