Rust Never Looked This Good! DrilOne Weathers Zoltron’s 12" Pilot for Halloween 2026!!!
Now THIS is how you make a brand-new sculpture look like it has survived decades of questionable military operations! DrilOne has gotten his wonderfully weathered hands on Zoltron’s 12" Pilot sculpture, applying his signature distressed, rusted and oxidized treatment to a very limited batch headed to Zoltron’s massive Halloween exhibition at The Chambers Project. And man... these things look incredible.
The Zoltron Pilot already has a killer foundation to work with. You’ve got that hollow-eyed skull staring out from beneath an old-school aviator helmet and goggles, cigarette hanging from its mouth, and a military-style flight jacket absolutely loaded with patches, medals, straps, insignias and tiny sculpted details. Then DrilOne comes in and makes the whole thing look like it has been sitting inside a forgotten hangar since some highly classified mission went sideways. The finish is where this release really comes alive.
Rather than simply throwing some brown paint around and calling it “rust,” DrilOne builds up layers of dirty browns, faded olive greens, worn leather tones, dulled metallics and wonderfully crusty-looking oxidation. Check out that turquoise verdigris-style patina creeping across the skull... especially around the teeth, cheekbones and forehead. It contrasts perfectly against the dark eye sockets and battered bronze tones. The goggles get their own beautifully aged treatment with worn gold trim and dirty leather, while the jacket looks properly abused with scuffs, markings, scribbles, patched-up areas and grime collecting around all of those raised sculpted details. The attached turnaround video really shows just how much work is hiding around the entire piece too. This isn’t one of those customs where all the action happens on the front. Spin it around and you’ll find additional straps, equipment, patches, painted markings and weathering running across the shoulders and back. There’s even stenciled lettering reading “ZOLTRON X DRILONE / EXPLOSIVE! / CALIFORNIA / U.S.A. 2026 / UNIT 01” across the rear of the jacket. Little touches like that make the Pilot feel less like a freshly painted collectible and more like some bizarre military artifact with an entire history behind it. The Zoltron x DrilOne Pilots will be part of Zoltron: An Anthology of Arcane Artifacts, opening Halloween night at The Chambers Project in Grass Valley, California. Only 10 Pilots received this collaborative treatment, with five of the ten available through Zoltron. Pricing is still TBD, so keep those eyes locked on @zoltron and @drilone for the final release details. The opening celebration goes down Saturday, October 31, 2026 from 6:30 PM to 11:00 PM PDT at:

The Halloween gathering will feature the exhibition, live music, costumes and a whole lot of wonderfully strange Zoltron-related madness... RSVP HERE! For me, the big attraction here is DrilOne’s finish. That combination of rust, corrosion, grime, patina and tiny painted details gives the Pilot an authenticity that feels almost uncomfortable... like maybe we shouldn’t be asking exactly where these guys have been. Only 10 made... five available... and Halloween night seems like the perfect time to unleash them.
