Back from the Dead! Tenacious Toys Revives Super Series Sundays with Playful Gorilla’s Lil Jay Masks!
Some things are just too good to stay buried... and Super Series Sundays is one of them! Tenacious Toys is bringing its artist-focused release program back from the dead, kicking things off with a little hockey-mask horror courtesy of Playful Gorilla. The Philadelphia artist’s Lil Jay Vorhees Mini Mask Blind Box Series 2 trades the usual slasher look for an NES-inspired blue colorway, mixing old-school video game nostalgia with a pocket-sized resin collectible. There are bloodied variants and a chrome chase lurking in the assortment, too! The masks are fun on their own, but the bigger news here is the return of a platform built to put independent toy makers in front of collectors. A comeback with a few scares attached? That sounds like a pretty fantastic way to spend Halloween weekend!
For collectors who remember the original run, Super Series Sundays was a regular series of new and exclusive drops that showcased working toy artists. Tenacious says the three-year campaign ended in 2016, making this a return a full decade in the making. Founder Benny Kline credits the response to the shop’s Open to Interpretation custom show at New York Comic Con, followed by the creativity he saw at CollectedCon, with helping inspire the revival. It is a welcome opportunity to reconnect the program with the independent creators it was built to support.
Opening the new chapter is Alex Rivera, the artist and designer behind Playful Gorilla. Jason Voorhees has long been one of his favorite slashers, and this second mini-mask series takes that recognizable horror silhouette into the pixelated world of 8-bit gaming. The cool blue and purple treatment gives the mask a wonderfully nostalgic look, while the blind-box format leaves a little suspense for the unboxing. Each resin mask measures 2.5 × 2.5 inches and arrives in a custom black jewelry box.
The assortment breaks down into three versions: the common colorway at 8/13, a Bloodied Rare at 4/13, and the Chrome Chase at 1/13. Those are the published variant odds, rather than a total edition count. Series 2 is an open run during its 48-hour ordering window, so the time limit is the part collectors need to keep an eye on. At $25 USD per blind box, it is a compact little horror collectible with a chance of pulling something extra shiny... or extra messy!
Ordering opens Sunday, November 1, 2026 at 7 p.m. EST / 4 p.m. PST and closes Tuesday, November 3 at 7 p.m. EST / 4 p.m. PST. Head to the Lil Jay Vorhees Series 2 product page when the window opens, and check the shop for shipping charges and fulfillment updates.
Tenacious is already arranging more releases for the revived program, and independent creators interested in participating are invited to contact the shop. Bookmark the Super Series Sundays collection and follow Tenacious Toys and Playful Gorilla for the next chapter. Here’s to more artists, more strange little creations, and a Sunday tradition getting another life!
