Depressed Monsters’ “Yerman” Finally Becomes a Mass-Produced Sofubi Through Toys on Tap!

Some designer toys are cool collectibles… and then some carry an actual emotional weight behind them. This upcoming release from Toys on Tap and Depressed Monsters definitely lands in that second category. After years of existing through artwork, apparel, murals, gallery pieces, television appearances, resin releases, and small-run collectibles… artist Ryan Brunty’s deeply personal character Yerman is finally getting its first-ever mass-produced soft vinyl figure.
Launching through Kickstarter on June 12, 2026 at 12PM PST, the 6" sofubi release stays incredibly faithful to Brunty’s original artwork and features Yerman clutching the now-iconic Skele-Heart accessory. Sculpted by Mark Pendley (@morehorrific) with packaging designed by Oriel Van der Lugt (@orielgoch), the figure feels like a true preservation of the character rather than simply another toy release.
And honestly… knowing the story behind Yerman makes this one hit even harder. Originally created back in 2012 during one of the darkest periods of Brunty’s life, Yerman began as a self portrait during a time marked by grief, depression, unemployment, and isolation. Over the years, the character has quietly built a strong emotional connection with collectors and fans who see parts of themselves reflected in it.
Ryan Brunty shared: “Yerman started as a self portrait during one of the hardest periods of my life. Seeing it become a vinyl figure after all these years feels surreal.” The Kickstarter campaign will feature multiple editions inspired by different emotional experiences tied to depression and mental health.
Collectors can look out for the Original Colorway alongside the Blank Edition featuring a blank expression. There’s also the “I Feel Gray” Monochrome Variant limited to 50 pieces… and the super haunting “I Feel Invisible” Clear Variant, also limited to 50 pieces. One of the standout versions though has to be the “I Feel Fragile” Kintsugi Edition… which unlocks as a stretch goal once the campaign reaches $8,000 funded. The cracked ceramic-inspired treatment works ridiculously well with the emotional themes surrounding the character.
Abraham Musto of Toys on Tap summed the project up perfectly: “Some characters deserve more than a release, they deserve preservation for what they mean.” The Kickstarter launches June 12, 2026 with a funding goal of $4,000 and an estimated delivery window of September 2026.
