WHAT'S NEW

Corey Helford Gallery's “POP-EYECONIC” with Ron English, Luke Chueh, Shag & many more!

The Corey Helford Gallery has invited 35 of the "top artists in the New Contemporary Art movement" — which I think is slang for lowbrow art scene — to partake in their upcoming “POP-EYECONIC - An Exploration of Popular Iconic Characters” group exhibition. Asking each artist to evolve their own take on an iconic pop culture image with significance to them — like Jeff Koons's devotion to Popeye or Andy Warhol's signature Campbell's soup cans — we're sure to get many interesting results, like the above pictured interpretation of the Flintstones — Fred, Wilma, and a disturbingly grown-up Pebbles.

"POP-EYECONIC - An Exploration of Popular Iconic Characters" opens on Saturday, March 15th with a reception from 7-10PM local time and will be on display until March 28th, 2014 at the Corey Helford Gallery, 8522 Washington Blvd., Culver City, CA 90232.
Participating artists include: Aaron Martin, Ben Frost, Bumblebee, Carlos Ramos, Chris Anthony, Colin Christian, David Stoupakis, D*FACE, Eric Joyner, Hikari Shimoda, Jennybird Alcantara, Joey Remmers, Kinsey, Natalia Fabia, Korin Faught, Lola, Luke Chueh, Meggs, Mia Araujo, Michael Mararian, Mike Stilkey, Nate Frizzell, Paul Frank, Peter Gronquist, Pure Evil, Richard Oliver, Robert Xavier Burden, Ron English, Sarah Folkman, Sas Christian, Josh Agle (aka Shag), Shark Toof, Soey Milk, and Tom Bagshaw.
