Josh Mayhem's Star Trek-inspired custom Pollen Kaiser for Paul Kaiju × Toy Art Gallery Show!

Josh Mayhem is best known for his kit-bashing work, seamlessly mashing up parts from model kits with another toy as the base. And when you look at his above pictured custom 10-inch tall "Pollen Kaiser" figure for Toy Art Gallery's previously announced fourth anniversary show, it's easy to assume that's exactly what he's done again. Except, it isn't. Mayhem took the PaulKaiju designed piece of Japanese vinyl (sofubi) and completely sculpted from scratch elements to add to the form. The finished piece, "Pollen Kaiser of Borg," is loving tribute to not only the figure itself but the infamous race of cyborgs from the Star Trek franchise.
TAG's "Anniversary Custom Show IV," a Pollen Kaiser-centric group exhibition, will open on Saturday, September 14th with a reception from 7-10PM and be on display until October 31st, 2013 at Toy Art Gallery, 7571 Melrose Ave., Hollywood, CA 90046.
