Heavy Metal, Handmade Finish! Neil Ewing’s BIG POUNDER Powers Toward Its Kickstarter Finish!

Big fists, big boots, and a whole lot of handmade attitude! Neil Ewing is working to bring BIG POUNDER from painted prototype to soft vinyl through his Bombastic Plastic studio, and the project is heading toward its Kickstarter finish line. This original 8.5-inch super robot brings chunky proportions, a grinning mechanical mug and classic robot-toy appeal together with Ewing’s own character design. For collectors who enjoy seeing an independent artist’s drawing turn into something they can actually hold, this is a good project to get on your radar before the campaign closes.

BIG POUNDER draws on Japanese super robots, hip-hop, comics and science-fiction films, with a broad chest, oversized hands and heavy-looking boots giving the design its unmistakable silhouette. The planned soft-vinyl figure consists of six parts, with a rotating head, arms and legs. Willy Kao handled the sculpting and engineering, translating Ewing’s character into a figure designed for vinyl production.

The hands-on work continues after the vinyl is produced. Ewing plans to paint, assemble, inspect and finish the figures in Colorado, keeping that artist-made connection at the center of the release. The campaign’s drawings, digital sculpt views and painted master offer a welcome look at how the character has developed, rather than simply presenting a finished object with a buy button.

The main OG Edition pledge is US$165 and calls for red soft vinyl with hand-painted details, packaged in a polybag with a header card and sticker. There is also a US$185 clear-purple edition, limited to 20 figures, with sprays and hand-painted details. Both standard colorway rewards list July 2027 as the estimated delivery month.

Collectors looking for something more personal can choose the US$220 custom-painted 1/1 reward. That tier is limited to 10 slots, with the paint direction worked out through a backer survey, and lists August 2027 estimated delivery. These are campaign rewards for a production project, so those dates are estimates rather than in-stock shipping promises.

This is an all-or-nothing campaign with a US$4,362 funding goal. Funding is intended to support production molds, soft-vinyl pulls, paint masks and materials, freight, packaging and associated costs. Shipping is not included in the reward prices and is added according to destination; applicable taxes are also additional, and international backers are responsible for any customs charges.

The campaign closes Monday, November 9, 2026, at 2:19am PST / 5:19am EST, which is 10:19am UTC. That early-morning cutoff is worth noting if you are planning a last-minute pledge. The painted robot shown here is a resin master, and the finished vinyl may differ, so take a look through the campaign’s development images, reward details and production information before backing.
