NOFUBI Announces New THE WORM Vinyl Editions in Pink, GID and More!!!
After introducing THE WORM as an oversized, articulated soft vinyl creature, Hong Kong-based artist NOFUBI has shared a fresh production update: Pink and glow-in-the-dark editions are moving into another production round, alongside a new color variant that has not yet been named. Also, we are given a first look at a 3D-printed prototype, a useful glimpse of the process behind this unusually ambitious character... and honestly, it's so cool!
THE WORM is a large-scale figure built around movement and display. NOFUBI previously described it as an 11-piece articulated soft vinyl toy measuring about 60 centimeters, or roughly two feet, tall. The artist has also framed it as something that sits between a toy and home decoration, a scale that makes the project feel closer to a small sculpture than a standard shelf-sized sofubi.
The latest update is significant because it signals multiple color directions moving forward at once. Pink and GID have been named, while the additional variant remains a teaser rather than a confirmed colorway. The new 3D-printed prototype appears to be an early production-stage reference; NOFUBI has not yet provided a final release date, price, edition size, or purchase link for this round.
Earlier posts indicated that a limited quantity of THE WORM was being prepared for DesignerCon and that a small number were headed to Barcelona. The current announcement does not say whether the new variants will be sold at a convention, through the official NOFUBI site, or through another retailer. We will be watching for the artist's next availability update, especially because a two-foot articulated soft vinyl figure is a substantial commitment in both shelf space and production.
For collectors who follow small-run sofubi, THE WORM is not a one-and-done debut. A second production round and several color treatments could make the character an evolving platform, while the still-unannounced variant leaves room for a surprise. Until NOFUBI posts the specifics... we can all dream of a collection of massive vinyl earthworms taking over our collections!
