This month sees the release of
Luke Chueh's long-awaited book "The Art of Luke Chueh — Bearing the Unbearable," released by Gallery 1988 in association with Titan Books. It features paintings from Chueh's first seven years as a professional artist (2003-2009) and, to celebrate, a series of events have been planned in the California area:
- On Satuday, June 9th from 1PM to 4PM, Chueh will do a book signing at Gallery1988 (7021 Melrose Ave., Los Angeles, 90038) which will be accompanied by a solo art show of Chueh's original sketches from those first seven years. The show will be available for viewing until June 16th.
- Then on June 16th from 6PM to 9PM, there will be a signing at Gallery Nucleus (210 E. Main St., Alhambra, 91801) which will also include an exclusive print to compliment the book.
- And so as not to play favorites, Chueh will then do a signing on June 17th from 1PM to 4PM at the other Gallery1988 location (214 Pier Ave., Santa Monica, 90405) which will include another exclusive print meant to compliment the book.
- Finally, Chueh will be signing on June 24th from 1PM to 4PM at Giant Robot (2062 Sawtelle Blvd., Los Angeles, 90025), which will have — you guessed it — another exclusive print.
If I lived in the area, I'd be crazy enough to run around to all the locations and grab those exclusive prints. And chit-chat with Chueh, as he's an absolute sweetheart of a man. But that'd just be my plan…
