Built for Trouble... sohei_hey Reveals MACHINA’s Painted Sofubi Prototype!

Orange hair, oversized glasses, and enough mechanical hardware to make a repair shop nervous... MACHINA is looking pretty slick! sohei_hey has shared a painted prototype sample of the upcoming sofubi character, previously displayed at Sofcon and Michinoku.

The design mixes an expressive human face with hefty robotic arms and legs, a dark graphic tee, red armor, striped leg details, and metallic-looking shoes. That contrast between everyday streetwear and heavy machinery is a fun one... this little character looks ready to wander straight out of a sci-fi workshop.

This is still a work in progress. In the artist’s update, sohei_hey says the prototype will receive further refinements before moving into mold production, with a release targeted for Winter Wonder Festival 2027. Pricing, dimensions, edition size, and ordering details have not been announced in this preview. Keep an eye on the artist’s page as MACHINA gets closer to the finish line!
