'Wizard of Fries' Casts a Spell… DustinCropsBoy Brings a Burger King Deep Cut to Life!

Every once in a while, a release pops up that feels like it was made specifically for hardcore nostalgia nerds… and this one absolutely hits that sweet spot. DustinCropsBoy has just unveiled his Wizard of Fries miniature statue, pulling an obscure and short-lived character straight out of Burger King history and turning him into a beautifully crafted collectible.
Wizard of Fries dates back to the late ’70s, when Burger King attempted to build their own McDonaldland-style universe complete with quirky characters and puppets. Alongside the Burger King himself, there were characters like Sir Shakes-a-Lot, Duke of Doubt, The Burger Thing, and of course Wizard of Fries. While some of those characters made multiple appearances, Wizard of Fries was used sparingly… likely because the character was tough to animate and the prop itself was probably a nightmare to work with. That rarity is exactly what makes this piece so fun.
As Dustin dug into researching the character, he noticed there was never a truly consistent design. Different illustrations showed different buttons, gears, and details, so he did what any great sculptor would do… cherry-picked the best elements from across the references and combined them with what could be pulled from the very grainy original commercials. The end result feels authentic while still being its own definitive take on the character. The statue is scaled to match Dustin’s existing McDonaldland pieces at 1:9 scale, coming in at around 8" tall, which means that even though these characters come from competing fast-food universes, they can still hang out together on the shelf. I love that kind of thoughtful consistency.
Wizard of Fries is cast in 8 separate pieces, plus a clear plastic dome and expandable arms. There’s even a spring inside for subtle bobble action, which just adds to the charm and personality of the piece. Each statue is individually hand crafted, one at a time, which also explains why these are produced in limited quantities and why patience is required… orders ship as soon as possible, even if that means waiting a few months. Trust me, it’s worth it.The Wizard of Fries miniature statue is priced at $179 each, and like all DustinCropsBoy projects, availability is limited since these builds are incredibly time-intensive and he’s always moving forward with new ideas. If you’re into vintage fast-food ephemera, weird mascot history, or just incredibly well-executed indie statues, this one is seriously cool and an easy recommendation... grab one HERE today! I absolutely love seeing these forgotten characters get this level of care and attention… how cool is this?!?!
