Hikari Shimoda's "Children of This Planet" Announced!

Japanese painter Hikari Shimoda began her career in 2008 with anime and manga-inspired fine art, but her direction refined in 2011 — followed two tragedies in her native country — and she began depicting otherworldly children imbued with a feeling of solitude. Expressed primarily through two series, Children of This Planet and Whereabouts of God, she is finally venturing into the world of art toys with these concepts.
Produced by APPortfolio, these mixed media sculptures are composed of PVC and ABS plastic. Limited to an edition of 300 copies, each signed by the artist and hand-numbered on the Certificate of Authenticity, these stand roughly 11⅞-inches (30.2cm) tall.
