WHAT'S NEW

Nathan Jurevicius × Kidrobot’s “Nightriders” Blind Boxed Dunnys & Munnys!

When most designer toy collectors hear the name Nathan Jurevicius they typically associate it with either his Scary Girl creation or with the magical owl designs he loves to make, though one could easily state the stylized eyes he uses with their flower petal eyelashes. We'd previously teased an upcoming project that Jurevicius was working on with Kidrobot titled “Nightriders,” which is a mixed platform blind box series like Amanda Visell’s “Feral Cats” was! As opposed to Visell’s series, these use a lot of additional sculpt details to the Dunny and Micro Munnyworld figures and really, painting-wise, are an experiment in using sprays on various shapes with paint details.

Pictured above is the complete fourteen figure “Nightriders” series, but what exactly are the “Nightriders?” According to Jurevicius, they "are a particular breed of nocturnal bird spirits that wander between the supernatural world and earth-bound gods. They are positive beings primarily used for communication with the unseen, through means of their little owl sidekicks." Expected to be released in early 2016, probably in stores by late January, these are available for pre-order now at specialty stores everywhere. But, for now, let's meet some of the characters…
It is said — by Jurevicius, at least — that there "are four positive forces in the universe: sunshine, kittens, green tea and this character named Manale," who is the Micro Trikky pictured on left. But that's nothing when you consider that "when you feed Archee" — the Micro Raffy on the right — "chocolate syrup [that] her crystal horn can project the future."
Worth noting at this point is that all the “Nightriders” mini-figures are named after Jurevicius’ friends and families, such as Benji, the Micro Foomi on the left. And then the Dunny with newly sculpted ears, pictured on the right, is Miss Andrea, who it's been said the only thing rarer than her are "the earlobes of a phosphorescent monkey."
Whoa, a foursome of Micro Munnys! On the left are Amtity and Milo, who "spend much of their time spreading dream magic through open windows." Then, on the right, are Kozy and Dan, who are "often seen roaming galactic oceans."
And finally we have the Micro Foomi and Dunny mini-figures Bibbe and Noko, pictured on the left and in the middle. And, of course, we end with Annie, "a creature of enormous hidden strength and willpower" who is "generous and magical."
