WHAT'S NEW

Is 2PetalRose's Female Samurai "Maiko" Resin Figure a Japanese Version of Hua Mulan?

The previously announced "Maiko" figure from 2PetalRose is finally here! Named after the Japanese term for an apprentice geisha in western Japan, especially Kyoto, "Maiko" (舞妓) is garbed in a traditional samurai helmet with banner waving behind her… Reminiscent of the Chinese tale of Hua Mulan, popularized by the Disney film Mulan, this figure is almost feminist in appeal, showing a very traditional looking woman taking up a non-traditional & even gender breaking attire. Limited to only 5 pieces in this color worldwide, these handcrafted & hand-painted resin figures stand roughly 12-inches tall and each sculpture is accompanied by a hand-stitched helmet, a sword accessory, and a wood banner with reversible print flag. Available for pre-order today (Sunday, July 27th) at 3PM Pacific time in 2PetalRose's online shop for £150 (approx. $255) apiece. Expected to ship by September 1st, 2014.
