J★RYU's "Sapling: Fall Edition" resin multiple series

J★RYU's "The Ghost Of You Haunted Me…" art show is happening this Friday, September 7th at Chicago's Rotofugi Gallery and for this show, not only did he create a ton of one off sculptural pieces, but he also created a really cool new resin multiple series that he is calling the "Sapling's". Jesse hand sculpted this adorable little figure, then sent him off to be cast in resin... and there are 10 of these available for his show opening tonight. They measure 4" x 5.5" x 4" tall and include a hollowed out head space where you can put your own plant... so essentially, it's a functional art piece that you can enjoy year around! You may recall pieces similar in fashion that J★RYU completed for his "Vinyl Roots" 3-man show at Dragatomi last year... I just love the idea! According to Jesse, there will be more of these made and as you can see, this is called the "Fall Edition"... so I wonder if he plans on releasing one series for each season. "The Ghost Of You Haunted Me…" opens on September 7th with a reception from 7-10PM and will be on display through September 30th, 2012 at the Rotofugi Gallery, 2780 N Lincoln Ave., Chicago, IL 60614.
