WHAT'S NEW

*REVIEW* Kidrobot Black "Lilitu" figure designed by Tara McPherson

I was fortunate enough to get my hands on a review copy of the new designer vinyl released from the Kidrobot Black line of figures, and was overall impressed with how cool it was! Titled "Lilitu", this figure was designed by Tara McPherson which had been teased HERE more than a year ago during a speaking engagement that Tara gave! This piece is based off her painting titled "Lilitu" done for the Dark Pop exhibition at Last Rites Gallery. Tara explains that the "painting is based on the Sumerian myth of the demon Lilitu. Representing chaos, seduction and ungodliness. She is a sexually frustrated and infertile female who behaves aggressively toward young men, her breasts are filled with poison not milk. In her every guise, Lilith has cast a spell on humankind." One thing to note about the figure is that Kidrobot did a really good capturing the essence of the painting in 3D form with this figure.

The figure itself came packaged in a closed box that is matte black wrapped with a gloss ribbon sleeve with foil stamping of the artist’s logo, and once the ribbon is removed the top part of the box lifts off revealing a nice glossy mural along with the figure! This figure sits 8" tall and is limited to just 200 pieces and is up for $250 right now HERE! It's cast in matte black vinyl (solid) with gloss highlights and an apricot color accent on the hair and eyes... which had some issues with cleanliness as the paint ran off in certain areas. The sculpt overall is awesome and the fact that the pool/puddle the figure is emerging from is a translucent colored smoky gray is rad, but there were a few issues with the sculpted hair... not sure if its because it was a review copy I got, but it seems like for $250 this should not be happening... but other than that the figure is boss and represents Tara's body of work superbly! Watch the video above to get an overall look at the packaging and the figure!
