Home Sweet 'Glimmer'... Calvin Ma Previews New Ceramic Work for Modern Eden!

A little house, a little action figure, and a whole lot of personality... Calvin Ma is giving us a fresh look at the ceramic work he is preparing for Glimmer at Modern Eden Gallery in San Francisco. The latest studio preview brings together bright pink, turquoise and yellow, with tiny windows, chimney tops and wonderfully expressive faces. Those miniature sneakers are pretty rad, too!

Ma’s sculptural characters reward a closer look. The architectural details turn the body into a small home, while the toy-like proportions make the whole thing feel ready for an adventure. These are progress images shared by the artist, so this is a peek at the making rather than a finished exhibition reveal.

Curated by Beautiful Bizarre Magazine, Glimmer runs November 7, 2026 through January 7, 2027, with an opening reception on November 7 from 6–9 p.m. The group exhibition explores small moments of light, connection and everyday wonder... a fitting setting for Ma’s thoughtful little characters.
