Deep within the Akita Prefecture of Japan, there is a secret cabal brewing… literally. Known by some as "The Secret Five," they prefer to be called "NEXT5" and are a collective of five "under 40" brewery owners who have banded together to create a new sake scene for the younger generation. While not everyone approves of their craft choices, it is obvious the pop modernist & Superflat creator
Takashi Murakami does, as he tapped the collective to make an exclusive blend for his
Bar Zingaro cafe. Packaged in the above-pictured bottles, featuring Murakami's Superflat sunflowers, I'm especially fond of the porcelain, white, and gold sake jars, the latter two of which feature relief printing.

I've actually been lucky enough to visit Bar Zingaro and I wish he'd release the fantastic, rough hewn tea sets they use there (pictured above). But one step at a time. The sake bottles and jars will be available from
Bar Zingaro beginning July 2nd, 2016.
