1:AM gallery presents "Wizards, Lizards, and Broads" the art of Mark and Vaughn Bode 6/25/2010

On behalf of 1:AM gallery, I am proud to present to you Wizards, Lizards, and Broads: a 50-year retrospective of Mark and Vaughn Bode’s art. Wizards, Lizards, and Broads will showcase the characters that have been greatly influencing street art all over the world for the past three decades. There will be original art by Mark Bode and works by Vaughn Bode, which have never been viewed publicly. Special guest artists include Vincent Bode, KC Angel, Stan 153, King 157 and James O’Barr (creator of “The Crow”). Join everyone for the opening reception on Friday, June 25th, 2010 from 7-10pm and this will run until July 31st!

As long as graffiti has been around, street artists have adored and been inspired by Cheech the Wizard, the lizards, and the infamous Bode broads that Vaughn Bode masterfully created. Decades later, his son, Mark Bode, continues to keep this fantastical world alive by adding his own imagination and art. Street art culture has thrived on their characters and have claimed them to be as much as a fixture in the graffiti scene as black books. Through various mediums and artists, this art exhibition promises to get you lost in the world where Wizards, Lizards, and Broads rule.
