WHAT'S NEW

SEEN: Twelvedot - Taipei Toy Festival 2015

We are just going to hop from rabbits to frogs, throwing the spotlight on Korean toy maker, Twelvedot. The design and sculpting is done by Hyunseung Rim before the factory churns out a kawaii amphibian troop hell bent on world domination by posing with their hands over their slight paunch, almost afraid to be caught twiddling while staring, unblinkingly, at you with those dark pools for eyes because, yea, that's how frogs do it.

Since its debut in 2014, fans have been screaming for more and all have been quiet; we have only seen a display of their Pobber collaboration Roadkill at STGCC 2015. Taipei Toy Festival 2015 sees a fresh line of APO frogs being released, starting with a Monster Taipei exclusive - Monster Dots. The lime polka-dotted series is capped at 100 globally, NTD$1,800. The other hotseller at TTF 2015 is Rainy Monday, a teal variety that comes with its own raincoat because frogs absolutely hate water. Nothing gets them more grumpy than getting wet. That retails for NTD $2,200.

Monster Coats, a new fashion line, which can essentially be used to dress up any of your other toys, made its first appearance and a limited number was made available onsite. Now the most important question - how do I get one? I managed to get my hands on the 'official' spokesperson for Twelvedot, Faye Kim - seamstress (she designs and sews the tiny tiny clothes for the frogs!), translator, wife.

"The Rainy Monday frog is the first of our new series and will be available through our usual channels after we get back home from TTF. We will be sending out order info emails within the last two weeks of Oct. The frogs are limited to 200 pcs as always. Order info emails will be sent out to our emailing list members and those who want to be added can leave us a message via facebook. The Monster Coat is limited to 100 pcs and also will be available through email orders."
So fret not! I'm definitely eyeing the Monster Coats and am dying to see the next collection, and as usual, am holding out for the possibility of a toxic rainbow APO frog. As for Monster Dots, Monster Taipei might be releasing information on that after the event!
