"Gaston Fantoni" custom by Jimmy Foo

It appears that customizer Jimmy Foo has done it again, and by again I mean created a sweet custom using a Jumping Brain as a platform and sculpted a saddle and awesome caped hero named 'Gaston'. According to Jimmy... "Very little information is available about this extraordinary performer. Born in France into the world of the circus, there he remained until his forced retirement with the closure of Bombast Furioso's Palace Of Wonders. Gaston was trained from a very early age for the trapeze. At his peak he led the Fearless Flying Fantoms ( Gaston, his brother Jean Claude and Ester Wells - an American), touring Europe and the Far East to great acclaim."

"Since the closure of the Palace Of Wonders Gaston relaxes in semi-retirement just outside the town of Albert in the Picardy region of France. Here he has become a very accomplished Jumping Brain wrangler where he farms and trains his stock of rare Jumping Brains along with his brother Jean Claude. Gaston rather reluctantly agreed to have a few photographs taken on the condition that he would only appear shown in the cape and hood of the Fearless Flying Fantoms." Some stellar work once again from Jimmy as not only did he kill it in the custom department, but that story is top notch as well... loving his circus/sideshow themed figures as of recent... keep em' coming dude!!!!

"Winey" DIY from Portugal

We just caught wind of an all Portuguese DIY toy titled "Winey". There is not much revealed at this point, but from the logo in the bottom right corner one might assume it's a bottle of some sorts, and after diggin around I found that the traditional bottle of wine has a simple and common purpose that reflects the spirit of Portuguese mentality. This will soon find its way into resin form from new comers Tuga Toys... more will be revealed shortly, and in the meantime... you ca stay as intrigued as as I am :-)

"Bitsumo" resin figure from DaiBot

We get some pretty awesome emails on a daily basis and today we received one from Dai Tran aka DaiBot who is an artist/illustrator/animator and has recently jumped into the resin game with both feet! He has been working on a designer toy for the past year, and this character's name is "Bitsumo"... and as you can see he is a Sumo! This figure was designed by Dai and sculpted by the talented Rohby. This is just a rough teaser for the time being, but Dai tells us that the finished product will stand 7.5" tall, come with a hand-braided mawashi (diaper), removable helmet/hairpiece, and is set to release around July in a limited stock of 30 or so pieces! There is no word on a price point just yet, but Dai is trying to keep this as affordable as possible! More will be revealed soon as he is still working on story, promo video and art, but we can at least get a taste of things to come!

*RECAP* Toy Street 2011

I have heard nothing but rave reviews from this Toy Street 2011! Not only was it bigger than last year in terms of vendors, but attendance was also up making this a huge success for all those who put it together. This convention finished up its 2nd go around and is already making plans for the 3rd making it very similar to the way Designer-Con aka Vinyl Toy Network first got its roots, the East Coast version if you will. There were a ton of us unable to attend, but if you want to get a feel for the excitement, the guys over at Cookies N' Cream took a ton of photos and posted them up HERE for your viewing pleasure. I am really happy to see this do so well and I am excited to see what 2012 will bring. Congrats on your success guys, and here's to many more years to come!
