Tomenosuke Resurrects a Forgotten Kaiju with the Mammoth Kong “Vampire” Edition!
Tomenosuke is resurrecting a long-forgotten kaiju with the release of the Mammoth Kong “Vampire” Edition — a dramatic new take on Japan’s very first televised kaiju. Originally appearing in the 1950s Gekko Kamen (Moonlight Mask) series, Mammoth Kong never quite received the mainstream recognition of his monster contemporaries like Godzilla. Now, thanks to Tomenosuke and sculptor Yohei Kaneko of Mirock-Toy, this towering figure returns in stunning form, draped in a Dracula-inspired cape and painted in haunting, gothic tones.
Standing 330mm (13") tall and made from premium Japanese sofubi, the “Vampire” edition is extremely limited to just 10 pieces worldwide. It’s more than just a repaint — it’s a love letter to vintage tokusatsu and forgotten icons of Japanese monster history. Originally intended for release on “Dracula Day” (May 26), the figure’s drop was delayed slightly as the team refined the packaging to better protect the delicate cape. Rather than using standard OPP bagging, they opted for a more thoughtful presentation, including a replica of the original pre-cut Mammoth Kong menko card as a backing insert.
Collectors will also receive a condensed A5-sized reproduction of the 1959 Moonlight Mask: Mammoth Kong picture book, making this release a full-package tribute to kaiju culture. Priced at 45,100 JPY, the Mammoth Kong “Vampire” Edition will go on sale June 8th at 23:59 JST, exclusively through Tomenosuke’s webshop. A truly rare offering that fuses horror aesthetics with classic kaiju heritage, this release is bound to vanish before the full moon fades.
