John Kenn Mortensen × Unbox Industries’s Big-Headed Monster Coming Soon!

What I originally mistook for a three-dimensional interpretation of John Kenn Mortensen’s “Baby Monster” is actually — as now properly revealed in prototype form above — a depiction by Unbox Industries from Mortensen’s below pictured “Bow Before the King” piece. A similarly styled monstrous, cancerous head growth on the character, it was an easy mistake for me to make. Regardless, I am thrilled that more of Mortensen’s art — reminiscent of Germanic fairy tale illustrations mingled with Edward Gorey’s aesthetics — are being converted into designer toy form. Imagine a day that you could create an entire three-dimensional world of Mortensen designed vinyl toys… That would be a wonderfully macabre & fantastical world indeed!
