Stranger Factory Presents Chet Zar & Doktor A.'s 'Oddfellows' and Doubleparlour's 'Pink Eye' 5/3

Stranger Factory is playing host to two cracking exhibitions in May with Oddfellows, a two-person exhibition by Chet Zar and Doktor A. and Pink Eye, a side stage exhibition by returning favourites, Doubleparlour. With Oddfellows, Zar and Dok A. use gas masked monsters and gentlemanly Mechtorians to illustrate the human condition. Despite their vastly different styles, the artists share a similar vision of using 'alien' subjects to highlight humanity's needs, wants, insecurities and quest for self-fulfilment. "Even though our respective creations believe themselves to be quite ordinary they are of course quite extraordinary...as are we all." Doktor A says of his and Zar's work.

Following the success of Anomie last September, Cassandra and Ernie Velasco return to Stranger Factory for Pink Eye, a new mini-exhibition of hand crafted resin figures in the gallery's project room. Featuring the duo's instantly recognizable monsters, menaces, hybrids and mutations, Pink Eye presents the full range of human emotion in a blatantly unapologetic way. Seemingly turning the tables on truth and projection, Doubleparlour gives us an opportunity to see what we might just look like on the inside.

Oddfellows and Pink Eye open May 3rd through June 2nd at Stranger Factory (109 Carlisle Blvd. NE, Albuquerque, NM 87106). An artist's reception will be held May 3rd from 6pm to 9pm.
