WHAT'S NEW

Uamou Tour Stop 2: Uamou Halloween Special at Meteor!

The second Tokyo Uamou pop up I went to was at METEOR at SF Dept. SF Dept is an art/design space that features contemporary art and clothing, and is located in Nakano, a part of Tokyo well known for things like manga/anime, as well as vintage game, toys, and other collectible items like luxury watches (think Rolex). It's also home to one of the better known toy stores, Mandarake. So it would be very fitting that a hip venue like SF Dept would exist, and of course, Uamou would have a Halloween pop up on site!

I had a bit of a misadventure as the first attempt in going was unsuccessful. They had changed their shop hours and I hadn't realized so I sat outside for an hour waiting for them to open. But alas, it was not meant to be, so I came back a different day and I was super happy I did! Though all of the hand drawings and some of the monster Uamous had sold out, there were still plenty of other items to purchase, such as wooden puzzles and other Halloween themed Uamous. This is the first time I've seen the wooden puzzles that almost double as coasters. A few close ups so you can see what I mean.

Perhaps the most fun items, besides the Uamou display, were the custom Uamous that were made for the shop itself and cannot be purchased.

I had seen some of these before online but never associated them with this place, so it's cool to see them in person! If you are in Tokyo and want to see some of these as well, you have a day or so left! The exhibit opened on October 7th and runs through October 31st. Visit them at 6-21-1 Nakano, Nakano-Ku, Tokyo.
