Ember Toys Brings Retro Kaiju Heat To Hong Kong Comic Con 2026 With Two Event Exclusive Chibi Creature Sofubi Releases!
Oh yeah... Ember Toys is rolling into Hong Kong Comic Con 2026 with some serious retro kaiju energy! Under their Chibi Creature line, Ember Toys is bringing two exhibition/event exclusive soft vinyl releases from the SSSS.GRIDMAN / GRIDMAN UNIVERSE world: Chibi Creature High-Spirited Kaiju Ghoulghilas (Retro Ver.) and Chibi Creature Comeback Kaiju Mecha Ghoulghilas (Retro Ver.).
Both figures take these monstrous GRIDMAN kaiju and shrink them down into Ember Toys’ SD super-deformed style, standing approximately 14 cm tall, which works out to about 5.5". Even with the smaller, chunkier proportions, these things are packed with wild shelf presence. Ghoulghilas comes in a bright vintage-style green, yellow, and red color scheme with silver claws and horns, giving off that classic old-school sofubi monster vibe. Mecha Ghoulghilas, on the other hand, leans hard into the cyber-kaiju madness with metallic armor, mechanical weaponry, tank tread details, spiked feet, and a retro pink/blue body treatment that feels like it blasted straight out of a vintage toy catalog from another dimension.
What makes these extra fun is the retro-inspired colorway approach. Based on the standard versions, these special editions were designed as a nod to early vintage kaiju sofubi toys, giving them a nostalgic feel that sets them apart from the regular releases. They feel familiar, weird, bright, toyetic, and totally display-ready... exactly the kind of event exclusive that kaiju collectors love hunting down in person.
These PVC figures will be priced at HKD 549 each($70), and will be available at Hong Kong Comic Con 2026, taking place May 29–31, 2026 at Hall 3, Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre in Wanchai, Hong Kong. Collectors can find Ember Toys at Booth 3E-D31 during the event. Ember Toys also notes that these special editions will be available at other event venues at a later date, but for now, Hong Kong Comic Con is the place to grab them first.
