MAp-MAp Frees All Six Senses With a Wild New Run of Custom Dunnys!

It’s been a minute since we’ve seen a fresh batch of customs from MAp-MAp, but he definitely hasn’t been sitting around twiddling his thumbs. On September 25th, the UK artist returns with 6 Senses Freed, a collection of six individually customized 3" Dunnys loaded with the obsessive sculpting, texture and hand-painted detail that have made his work so instantly recognizable.

If you’ve followed MAp-MAp over the years, you know the customization is on point. Each figure is absolutely covered in hundreds of individually sculpted strands, spikes and little tactile details that transform the familiar Dunny silhouette into something completely different. It’s the kind of work that makes you want to zoom way in just to figure out how the heck he pulled it off. This new series was created while MAp-MAp found himself working on what he describes as some of the least vibrant and interesting work he had done in a while. 6 Senses Freed became the antidote... six creatures celebrating the wilder side of our senses and pushing things back toward something more colorful, strange and fun.

And these six are definitely strange in the best possible way. Horns, giant tongues, oversized eyes, wild textures, saturated colors and wonderfully bizarre little personalities are spread throughout the lineup. Despite starting from the same 3" Dunny platform, every piece feels like its own completely different character. There’s also something really cool about seeing MAp-MAp return to this kind of highly detailed custom work. These aren’t quick repaints. Each figure has been heavily transformed through sculpting and painting until the original platform almost disappears beneath the new character.

The MAp-MAp 6 Senses Freed custom Dunnys release Thursday, September 25th at 6:30PM BST, which is 10:30AM Pacific, through the MApTownSqr online shop. And it sounds like we won’t have to wait nearly as long for the next batch either. MAp-MAp says more customs are already in the works, including at least one Halloween piece... so keep those eyeballs peeled.
