Bubi Au Yeung's "Be Nice & Simple Janky" from Superplastic!

As an illustrator and multimedia designer, Hong Kong born and based artist Bubi Au Yeung has worked with a who's who of companies over the years, though she is probably best known for creating "Treeson", her popular debut vinyl figure from 2005. As such, it's not surprising that she'd be included in this first series of the fox-like "JANKY" form from Superplastic, the new designer toy company formed by Paul Budnitz with Huck Gee as its head of art and production. Her contribution, titled "Be Nice & Simple", embodies that frequent mantra of the artists, a minimalist but joyful decoration vibrantly adorning every inch of the character's shape. With it's title written in a stylized manner across the creature's ears, we expect to learn a lot more about this piece (and the series it's part of) in the coming weeks leading up to the launch of Superplastic's line on May 15th, 2018!
