David Withers, also known as Chaingun!, continues to tackle political issues with his designer toy pieces, adding the picturing "Mini Trumplin" to his repertoire. With its title theoretically alluding to the fact that it is a depiction of Donald Trump in the very rough form of the classic Boglins toys, this resin creation feels a bit subpar to me. While I think the concept is quite solid, the execution is lacking especially in terms of the sculpt. Yes, the Boglins were part of the 'gross toy' wave in the '80s, but they always had simple, polished look to them, the refinement of their sculpt balancing the grosser aspects of the design. These "Mini Trumplin" figures, on the other hand, feel far more like a rough, bare-bones sculpt than a finished one. And it is unfortunate, as the joke is quite clever, especially with his morning cup o' nuclear power!
