Splurrt's upcoming "Usir" is a Lovecraftian take on Osiris!

Wonderful neo-kaiju designer Splurrt is preparing to release his newest figure, Usir, "hopefully in a few weeks" with a promise of "release details soon" on his Twitter feed. Like some sort of goat-headed creature from a Lovecraftian tale, it's no coincidence that Usir's teethy head mutation vaguely resembles an Egyptian crown… Usir was another name for Osiris, the Egyptian God of the Afterlife, the Underworld and the Dead; a correlation that is re-enforced by the header card text: "The Morning Star, the King, you are a mighty God, and there is no God like you… Usir, cursed with the burden of immortality." Cast in blood red vinyl that Splurrt decided to leave unpainted for initial release, these figures appear to be around 3 to 4-inches tall and — we're told — they'll retail for $45 to $50 apiece when available.

Andrew Bell's WIP "Mahākāla" Dunny AP Edition?!?

Andrew Bell posted the above image on his Twitter feed with the tagline "resinating…" which implies he's hand-casting these greater detailed versions of the Mahākāla Dunny's sword out of resin. While there are several possible reasons for this, I suspect it means that Bell is preparing to release Artist Proof (AP) copies of his 8-inch Mahākāla Dunnys… which didn't come with the flaming sword, but rather had spears. If I'm right, talk about an amazing AP bonus accessory!

Josh Mayhem's "G.I. Jonez" custom Dunny for Munky King show!

Customized for the "Memories Are Made Of This" group art show, Josh Mayhem's "G.I. Jonez" Dunny features his typical super clean paintjob and carries an assortment of the weaponry accessories. As per the artist:
Since the theme for this show is based on childhood memories the first, and obvious thing that popped into my head was to create a piece paying homage to my favorite toy growing up - G.I. Joes. In fact I cherished my G.I. Joes so much that I still have about 200 of them on display right along side my designer toys. It is from this collection that you'll find weapons and accessories adorned on nearly every custom toy I do. G.I. Jonez is decorated with 100% G.I. Joe weapons and accessories from both the 1/16th and 4 inch versions. I really enjoyed creating this piece because my action figures have always been a huge inspiration for my custom toy art. I can think of no better way of showing my respect to the art of both action figures and designer toys by combining a Munny, one of the most popular platform toys, and G.I. Joes, one of the most popular action figures.
"Memories Are Made Of This" opens tonight (August 18th, 2012) with a reception from 4-8PM. It doubles as a 13th Birthday celebration for Super Cooper Berella and a final "Hurrah!" for Munky King before they close their Melrose location at the end of the month.

Artmymind have a new custom coming… But you'll have to hunt for information on it!

The top-notch duo of Artmymind have announced that they have "a very special release" arriving in their online store on August 21st, 2012, but those keen to learn more can find "clues and infos" on their social sites. Ohhhh, a scavenger hunt of hints; I like this concept. For those interested in playing along, they primarily use Twitter and Facebook, but they do also have a Tumblr blog, a Flickr feed, a Google+ account and a Bēhance project folder… which includes a currently empty sub-category entitled Work in Progress. In addition to any tidbits you may be able to scour, the above image was entitled "Armor_1.JPG," which confirms it's some form of plated protection, and it included the following quote (reproduced verbatim): "An evil force is approching... They are our last stand, "

Matt JOnes reveals a "Lunartik in a Cup of Tea" Series 2 figure!

Matt "Lunartik" JOnes, filled to the brim with excitement, couldn't resist sharing another sneak peak of the "Wild Mushroom" figure from the forthcoming "Lunartik in a Cup of Tea, Series 2" set (the above design was previously revealed HERE). With this better angle, you can now clearly see that the Lunartik figure has — what appears to be — a Lunartik head design upon his chest. We can't wait to see this series in full, which will consist of 12 'regular brews' and 4 'special brews' as well as a Free Secret Tea (like Cherry White was in Series 1).
