Sergio Mancini & Igor Ventura's custom Big Sal figures!
The founding members of Red Mutuca and Most Wanted mainstays Sergio Mancini and Igor Ventura were recently commissioned to each customize one of the Brandt Peters designed "Big Sal" sofubi vinyl figures released by Super7. Mancini's version, pictured above, is entitled "Echiton, a maniac depressive fella locked up in a straight jacket, maybe due to some violence acts evidenced by the blood splatters on him." I love the all the sculpting, especially the Skelve-like nose, and the paint job is truly immaculate.
Ventura's creation, pictured above and no less fantastic, is "Chef Lobsta, a gourmand crustacean hungry to put some french cuisine on the table." An evolution of the "Lobsta" design that Ventura had produced in Blankie Series 1, his wonderful claws make me smile.

Kody Koala's simply fantastic Sonic The Hedgehog mech custom!
Artist Kody Koala completely tricked out this 10-inch "Giant 90s style" Sonic the Hedgehog figure, customizing it into an incredible looking "Mecha Sonic." In order to achieve this affect, Koala utilized a 2-inch Sonic figure, a couple of LEGO laptops, a Playmobil computer keyboard, and part of a Halo Ghost for the cockpit! This piece was actually created back in March, but we missed spotting it until now. Stunning… simply stunning…

JC Rivera's "Chicago Bulls" custom crew for Toy Invaderz show!
JC Rivera delivers this series of hand-painted resin figures based on the Chicago Bulls for, appropriately enough, the Chicago-based Toy Invaderz show. I love the ones that incorporate Rivera's own "Condah Transporters" heads into the design. And is it just me or — way in the back — are there some gents with t-shirts that read "MOTHA" on one and some word that ends with "CKR" on the other… wonder what that could be (he said with a wink and nudge).
The "Toy Invaderz" Group Art Show is currently up and runs through July 30th at RGB Lounge, 1420 N. Milwaukee Ave., Chicago, IL 60622.
Participating artists include: Jim Magee, Lynell Ingram, Task One, JC Rivera, Steven Patt, Shane Haddy, Alison Perez/Zukie, Czr Prz, Audrey Smith, James Fuller, Valerie Gudell, Nerviswrek, Frank Mysterio, Dave Webb, Dan DMS, Osiris Orion, Shawn Wigs, Mike Mendez/NemO, Chris Moore, Adam Pratt/Halfbad, Anjali Bahl, Rezorek, BJ Storms, Frank Diaz, Ciermuco Toys, Erica Holuboff, JFury, Giannina Gutierrez, Jeff Beck, Travis Lykins, Audrey Smith, Matt Dcay Melville, and Emmanuel L White Eagle.

Kathie Olivas & Brandt Peters' new Skelves for Circus Posterus!

One might assume that Kathie Olivas & Brandt Peters require sleep at some point, but their monstrous output of work indicates otherwise… The duo have a pair of new Skelves "coming soon" from their own Circus Posterus brand: the Blue Mist Kuma (with Glow-in-the-Dark Lucky Skull) and the Grieving Greeter, pictured above on the left and right respectively. Circus Posterus have confirmed that the Blue Mist Kuma will be issued as a limited edition run and, we're guessing, the Grieving Greeter will be the same. Hot damn!

Motorbot's custom Munny "The Kraklin" will stop SDCC goers in their tracks!
There's really no greater compliment you can give a customizer than this: I have no clue what platform this is built upon. And I happily give that very statement to Motorbot's wonderful strange creature known as "The Kraklin." Okay, so I am like 99% sure this is a Munny… but the amount of sculpting makes it impossibly to know for sure; the safest thing to do is, like Dragatomi's web site, simply state "resin on vinyl." Wait, why is it on Dragatomi's site, you ask. This absolutely mind-blowing piece will be available in Dragatomi's SDCC Booth #4935 for $150. And no, I didn't drop a zero off the end; only $150! Yea, this piece is going to disappear super quick.

J★RYU's completed customs for Luke Chueh x Giant Robot's custom UglyDoll show at SDCC!
We would've never guessed that the previously shown owl re-sculpts of UglyDoll figures by J★RYU were just the beginning of his customs… Pictured above are the completed customs: Tuesday & Tuscany (top), Angela & Archimedes (inset left), and Rikkie & Raphael (inset right). Absolutely gorgeous and fantastic additions to the Luke Chueh curated and Giant Robot hosted "Remix Project" that will run through-out the 2012 San Diego Comic-Con at SDCC Booth #1729.

The Sucklord SDCC Round-up… now with David Healey!
We've been talking and talking and talking about what the Sucklord has got going on at this year's San Diego Comic-Con, but that's only because he's slowly taking his rightful place as Lord of the Convention. Okay, maybe not… but he certainly has tons of cool stuff coming out! Pictured above is an actual finished "The Toy Whose Name We Cannot Speak" figure, which uses the He-Man & The Masters of the Universe inspired Suckator platform, Gay Empire theme and is part of the Scrubs Of The Universe series. According to the Sucklord, "this figure has a name that is so wrong, we have taken the very uncharacteristic move of censoring ourselves" — which means, at least in his head, there's theoretically a name for it! This 5" tall resin figure comes sans packaging and it limited to only 9 copies for $150 each from the DKE Toys' SDCC Booth #4728 on Friday, July 13th at 11AM (to coincide with a Sucklord signing there).
At the exact same time and place, two of the above shown three new figures will be dropping: the little piece of plastic Star Trek slash fiction known as the "Gay Enterprise" two-pack and the Transformers based "Gay Energon: Roddimus Pride" piece. "Gay Empire" is limited to 30 copies for $150 per pack while "Gay Energon" is an edition of 40 pieces for $125 each. The odd man… er, woman… out would be "Gay Empire: Licorice Leslie," who is not only the first female figure under the Gay Empire banner but is also the only resin piece of Sucklord's that DKE Toys' will be selling starting Wednesday, July 11th (Preview Night)… and with there being only 70 copies at $45 each, expect some disappointed fans later on.
These are a little trickier, as there remains no official announcement of time, place, cost, etc. The hand-cast and painted Dunnys (left) will be available directly from the Sucklord himself only. And on the right are the result of a collaboration between Sucklord and Healeymade! Rumors abounded that David Healey had stopped by the Suckhole and snagged a Sucklord mold, but they certainly seem confirmed now, don't they!?! Healey will be at the DKE Booth on July 13th at 1PM, so perhaps that's when these are dropping as well? Pure guesswork, unfortunately…
