Flying Fortress "One Man Army" BROOKLYN - opening Tomorrow Night @ Mighty Tanaka

Attennnnnnnnnnnnn-tion! Flying Fortress is swooping in, leaving Germany behind and taking charge. "One Man Army" is Flying Fortress's first NYC solo show at Mighty Tanaka, Brooklyn. I have been nerding out over Teddy Troopers for a long ass time and I know I'm certainly not alone. Flying Fortress pays homage to "Lizard'n Wizard" with his “Bodentruppen”. I just like saying that word.

Bushwick dwellers might have already been lucky enough to see Flying Fortress murals in your hood! Look at the rad shot above. Head on down this Friday, June 14th, 6-9pm... the show runs through July 6th. MARCH. LEFT. RIGHT. LEFT.

Well, this awesome looking plush figure is now available via the Clutter webstore HERE which is great for us folks stateside! This 8" tall figure is limited to 2,000 pieces and will retail for $12.49 a pop... a lovely addition to your ever growing designer toy collection!

Andrew Bell's Android Summer Edition SDCC 2012 Variant set from DKE Toys

Since we are on the subject of Andrew Bell... why not talk about his exclusive Android Summer Edition: SDCC 2012 Variant set by Andrew Bell? So... up for grabs at the DKE Toys booth #4728! I really dig the designs, and how fitting is the "Trekkie" and the "BBQ Master" for the summer time... PERFECT! They are going to retail for just $25 for the set and there are only 1,000 sets made... making these a little bit more accessible than other releases, but they will still go fast. That being said, if you are on the fence about this purchase, make up your mind... they will sell out!

BlackGard's Monster Farm has tons of adorably nasty critters!

It seems that BlackGard is a developing a game called KROG! which seems to use resin cast figures… characters they're currently selling to help finance the creation of the game (similar to what Kingdom Death have been doing). The BlackGard have opened a Monster Farm, wherein you can adopt a creature for a donation… yea, it's a flavorful way of describing a web shop, but I like a little creative flair. We're told the figures in the shop will change week to week, but what won't change is that if you sign-up (for free) to become a Grey Gard member then you'll receive a discount on all orders.

The Loyal Subjects x Gary Baseman - The "Kostopol Warrior" vinyl figure... in Blue!

Back in January of 2011, we posted up a photo HERE of Adam from The Loyal Subjects posing for an interview... and in the foreground there were some new, yet to be revealed, figures from Gary Baseman... and then the Loyal Subjects released the "Buckingham Warrior" that we covered HERE, now... Gary and TLS are back with a new, chilling blue and white version of this figure dubbed the "Kostopol Warrior". The story behind the creation of this figure is very compelling... and deserves a mention, Gary says:
"The Buckingham Warrior is an extension of the very DNA which comprises Gary Baseman. The allegoric and somewhat fabled character is inspired from the real world deeds of his father, Ben Baseman - a local resistance fighter in WWII, thwarting back pockets of Nazi storm troopers. Kostopol is the name of the town in what was Poland, now the Ukraine, where Baseman's mother was born. She, along with very few others from Kostopol survived the horrors of the Nazi occupancy.

Gary Baseman has created the Buckingham Warrior in celebration of the souls who survived and those who fought for inherent truths and moral certitude. A true hero for the ages!"
It is impressive in size, measuring in at 12" tall this spiky fella features several points of articulation (including the adjoining heads, arms and legs), and comes packaged in a closed, satin finished box. This "Blue" edition is the second to drop and will be limited to only 250 pieces worldwide and will retail for $120 a piece. These are going to go up for sale HERE on Friday, June15th at Noon PST.

Dragatomi x Bigfoot - Fujisan "Mountain Spirit" in VINYL set to drop at SDCC 2012

He’s finally here!!! The vinyl version of Bigfoot's "Fujisan" figure!!! Spotted last year during SDCC 2011 at Dragatomi's booth as a wax prototype, then made into a small run of resin figures... the response was so great for them, Dragatomi decided it was time to throw their hat into the vinyl making game and above is the result... their first production vinyl figure! This bad boy will be up for grabs during SDCC 2012 via booth #4935 this year in the luscious brown, green, blue "Mountain Spirit" colorway! It will be in very limited quantities at SDCC where there will also be a small print run available at SDCC only with each purchase of a Fujisan. The prints are limited quantities also and available on a first come basis. These stand a whopping 8" tall and are about the same size wide... and are going to retail for $90 a pop! The elusive Bigfoot will be signing on Friday from 2pm-4pm. They will release these beautiful pieces of vinyl starting preview night. Also, Dragatomi has a SDCC page created HERE and will be updating constantly.

Andrew Bell's "Mahākāla" red variant Dunny 2012 design... revealed!!!

I wasn't kidding about today... it's raining Dunny 2012 designs and as you can see from the above photo - thanks to Ebay - Andrew Bell's rad 4-armed "Mahākāla" Dunny has just been confirmed to have a "red" variant. Rumor has it that this carries a 1/80 ration just like the "black" version... and if you go to the KRonikle, you can see some other possible colorways of this awesome figure (posted below).

Who knows if these will even get produced, but I for one would love to see that "white" version as an 8"... how sweet would that be! Kidrobot is known for keeping a few SDCC announcements to themselves, and as of right now, all we have seen is a silhouette of their Dunny release for SDCC 2012... but a boy can dream! This design is really fantastic and I just love the fact that it has 4 arms... great work Andrew!

Thunder, Thunder, Thundercrap's... hoooooooo!!!

I think that headline caught your attention, and I am sure the above picture did the same thing as the folks over at Kuso Vinyl have some exciting news to share about an upcoming Anime Expo 2012 release... and you guessed it, Thundercrap's are back! Kuso will be in attendance at Anime Expo (June 29th - July 2nd) in downtown LA this year at booth #849, and they will be releasing the new Thundercrap box set designed by Rotobox in collaboration with Nakanari's Spiki figure. Each box set contains 3 figures: "Evil Lion-oh really", "Cheatarah", and "Siberian Tigrowl". They will be limited to just 300 sets worldwide, and in those 300 sets, 100 of them have the "Goldigger Cheatarah" instead of Cheatarah. Each figure is 4" tall, and will retail at $45 per box set... AWESOME!!! Oh, and look at the back of that box... more figures coming soon!!! Thunder, Thunder, Thundercrap's... hoooo!!!

Zukaty's custom "Zucron the Head Hunter" Kracka for Dragons show!

Deep in some jungle that remains untouched by civilization, there surely are whispers amongst the tribesmen of "Zucron" — his name always spoken in whispered tones — a monstrous beast that hunts for human heads as a sport. Or, maybe, "Zucron the Head Hunter" is simply Zukaty's contribution to the upcoming "Dragons" group show/charity auction event. There's quite a but of sculpting on this Kracka and some is certainly more clean than others, but I love the spear and necklace accessories quite a bit. Overall, I love the concept!

"Dragons" will have a launch party on August 18th from 6PM to 7PM at The SHO Gallery, The Coach House, 1A Inverness Place, Roath, Cardiff, CF24 4RU, UK. After the launch, all the pieces will be placed up for seven day auction on eBay, with all proceeds being donated to DiabetesUK. Participating artists include: A Little Stranger, Alto, Blue-Frog, Cheo, Cris Rose, David Stevenson, DMS & Neese, Dr Barbados, Emily Bee, Fark-Fk, Felt Mistress, Flatties, Graffiti Life, Hoakser, Inkbotz, Jim Freckingham, Jonathan E, Jon-Paul Kaiser, KeziArt, Lex, Lisa Rae Hansen, Lunabee, Map Map, Mark James, Mark Treharne, Matt JOnes, Mike Strick, Mimic, Michal Miszta, Mr Lister, Pete Fowler, PJ Constable, Planet Domu, Run DMB, Sneaky Raccoon, Squink, Stae, Stu Witter, Taylored Curiosities, TMH, Triclops Studios, UME Toys, Uncle Absinthe, Zombiekel, Zro Toys, and Zukaty.

Bowo Baghaskara's DRIAD resin figure is ultra-limited & coming soon!

Indonesian artist Bowo Baghaskara has designed a brand new platform entitled "DRIAD," which is a 5-inch tall resin cast character. Described as a "Goddess of Trees," she's protects her wooden friends from every danger so "beware if you have intention to cut down a tree!" While Baghaskara has been developing his nature-oriented designs for a while, I must admit I'm having trouble looking at this figure at not thinking of a lesser Jason Limon; it's not a fair comparison, but it's one that keeps popping into my head. Regardless, this 'Original Version' — which is limited to only 10 copies — will initially be available at the "Jakarta Toys Invasion" at Graha Jala Puspita (Jalan Jenderal Gatot Subroto Kav 101, Jakarta Capital Region, 10220 Indonesia) on June 16 & 17, 2012. Any remaining copies will then be available from Baghaskara's Chihoo Store starting on June 19th.

Sucklord's Dunny 2012 design... revealed!!!

It appears that Dunny's keep falling out of the sky today as it's one reveal after another... and the folks over at Clutter have just dropped info on the case exclusive Dunny designed by the one and only Sucklord. As speculated before, we weren't sure if this was going to be one of Sucklord's "Dumny" figures or an official Dunny... and it looks like it's a mixture of both... as Kidrobot went and re-sculpted the head. Not quite sure what's going on with the body... but it appears to be a stormtrooper'ish type of belt. Can't wait to see the actual figure! Thoughts?

More of Meredith Dittmar's fantastic sculptures for TAG show!

Here at the fictitious SpankyStokes offices, we just can't get enough of Meredith Dittmar's fantastic "fanciful, thoughtful characters in beautiful colors and shapes" that are handmade completely out of polymer clay. So we thought we'd share a couple more images of her strange yet "exquisite human-animal-plant-energy hybrids" from the upcoming "Transmutation" solo show at Toy Art Gallery, which we'd previously posted about HERE. And while each work is completely unique and one-of-a-kind, we've been promised that the prices will "satisfy all budgets." Talk about amazing news!

"Transmutations" opens on June 16th with a reception from 7-10PM and will remain available for viewing until June 30th at Toy Art Gallery (TAG), 7571 Melrose Ave., Hollywood, CA 90046.

Clinton Yaws x Argonaut Resins's custom Tuttz to be released tonight!

Artist Clinton Yaws was thrilled to be hand-selected by Eric Nocella Diaz of Argonaut Resins as one of only 12 artists invited to customize an 8" Tuttz figure, and Yaws proved himself worthy with this amazing Egyptian inspired design. As Yaws describes,
I decided to go with a King Tutankhamun sarcophagus theme. The head is done after the mummy mask of Tutankhamun. Below on the breast is a winged scarab pectoral representing the god Khepri, the rising sun, pushing the sun disc above the horizon. The left side contains the white vulture image of Nekhbet, the right the image of Uraeus is a symbol for the goddess Wadjet, who was one of the earliest Egyptian deities and who often was depicted as a cobra. Combined they are know in Ancient Egyptian texts as, Two Ladies, the deities who were the patrons of the Ancient Egyptians and worshiped by all after the unification of its two parts, Lower Egypt, and Upper Egypt. The tail is painted as the crook from the burial coffin.
This fantastic looking piece will be available in the Argonaut Resins online store tonight (June 14th) at 9PM EST, though the price is unknown.

JonPaul Kaiser's final two Dunny Series 2012 color variants!

Just yesterday we revealed two of the four colorways for the previously mysterious JonPaul Kaiser design in Kidrobot's Dunny Series 2012, and now we have pics, thanks to Ebay, of the final two versions. In addition to the black-on-white and black-on-red, there will also be black-on-blue and black-on-green variants. While there is no word on the ratios for each of these, it seems likely that at least one of them will be a 1/20 (one per case) with the others being far more difficult to find. And am I the only one that noticed that the red one is the only one will flesh colored paint in spots? Very strange…

Matucha releases "Taller Wooden Toys"… but what is it?!?

It's days like this that I wish I'd taken my Spanish classes a bit more seriously… or, at least, continued using the language so I wasn't so darned rusty. If I've been able to muddle through what little information there is correctly, it seems that the fantastic Angie Vázquez Cilia, better known as Most Wanted member Matucha Studio, will be releasing a "Taller Wooden Toys" limited edition piece through Mexican retailer Rojo Bermelo. Availability appears to be limited to orders placed on June 16 & 17, with a price point of Mex$850 (approx. $60) each. But what are they? Wooden toys made to resemble the adorable pictured creature? I honestly don't know, but interested parties can contact ventas [at] rojobermelo [dot] com for most information. *** UPDATE *** Assuming the nice fellow who commented on this post is correct, then "Taller Wooden Toys" is actually a wood toy making workshop that Matucha teaches at Rojo Bermelo. The workshop takes place on June 16 & 17th and costs Mex$850 to attend. Don't know if it's accurate, but it certainly makes sense to me!

Lunabee's custom "Beeatrix" is a kitten who loves bees!

Let me introduce you to "Beeatrix," a cute little 4" tall Trikky kitten who "loves bees and can often be found in the beautiful Felinus forest surrounded by her fluffy striped friends." But Beeatrix's love is reciprocated, as "her outfit and ear glove were given to her by the bees as their way of making her an honorary member of their hive." She is also the newest custom creation by Lunabee, who tells us that "Beeatrix is the cousin of the Prince of Mews and one of the beautiful Harlequins," which are "a very special tribe of cats with furry coats that range in all colours of the rainbow." This one-of-a-kind hand-painted piece goes on sale in Lunabee's web shop tonight (June 14th) at 7PM London time for $125 HERE.
