The AMAZING works of Seymour for his upcoming 3-man show "The Emporium" @ Strychnin Gallery 06/08/2012

We just got a really awesome update from Peter Kelk aka Seymour about his upcoming show at Strychnin Gallery... which by the way is a group show with Doktor A. and Skeleton Heart... that being said, he sent over a plethora of pictures showcasing his awesome work... and by awesome I mean what a massive bunch of circus sideshow curiosities, freaks, clowns, buskers, brawlers, showmen, and con men. Peter tells us that all of the pieces that he creates are 100% hand sculpted using clays and resins and then painted, and come cased in 17cm high acrylic domes. All pieces are 1/1 originals... RAD!!! The pieces will be available through Strychnin Gallery, and the presale should be going online starting Wednesday, June 6th HERE... so for all us outta towners, this is for us!!!

"The Emporium" is set to open on June 8th, and as you can see from all the pictures in this post, Seymour has a very distinct style, and he carries it over to each and every piece he creates... and there are a ton of them. With names like "Pot Belly Pete", One Wheeler Willie", Benjamin Bumble Brain", "Bobo Jojo", Dr. Jerry", and "Gumball Gary"... one can only transport themselves to this side show in their minds, lending to the fun and excitement that each character offers! If you are living in or around the Berlin, Germany area... don't miss this show, and if the photos above are any indication of what to expect... you will be a fool if you miss it!!!

Squink did this astounding 4" custom Munny for the upcoming "They Came From The Streets 2" group custom show. Amazingly clean sculpting all around, I especially enjoy the slight point of the ears and the scale patterning on the body. And that face is so expressively upset. Simply wonderful!

Luke Chueh's "Smokey (The Bear)" for Thinkspace Gallery show!

Luke Chueh's 8" x 10" acrylic & ink on paper painting "Smokey (The Bear)" is part of the "Wild at Heart" group show, a benefit for the Born Free USA foundation. The piece is most obviously a brilliant parody of everyone's favorite anti-forest fire mascot, but Chueh explains his intentions:
[This piece] attempts to address several of the issue[s] behind the show. First the painting features a polar bear, a mammal whose territory has been severely affected by global warming. The bear is smoking a cigarette, which illustrates in its own twisted way animal endangerment, crossing a human lifestyle with an wild animal. Finally, the title "Smokey (The Bear)" is a reference to Smokey The Bear, the original mascot for the the United States Forest Service.
"Wild at Heart" is already open and runs through June 9th at the Thinkspace Art Gallery, 6009 Washington Blvd., Culver City, CA 90232.

Zukie-based Custom Trade Circle at Kidrobot Forums!

Alison "Miss Zukie" Perez's new DIY Zukie platform has gathered an interesting form of support over on the Kidrobot Forums: a Custom Trade Circle is being organized. For those unfamiliar with the concept, each member of the Trade Circle will make a single custom (in this instance, solely using the Zukie platform) and then, determined from random drawing, each customizer will send their piece to someone else on the list (and receive one from someone on the list as well). If you are interested in participating, the organization is HERE (the first post has the rules which you need to abide by) and you can grab your DIY Zukie figure HERE. And did I mention that Miss Zukie herself is participating? Oh yes…

DrilOne x Jason Limon's "Ollie" figure for SDCC 2012!

While still not completed, it seems DrilOne has finished his modifications to the previously released teaser and is sending it to Jason Limon to put the finishing touches on. The gas mask modification looks great and those wings are killer, but I really love the peeling metal that adorns the head. It seems this piece is entitled "Ollie" and it is destined for San Diego Comic-Con 2012. If we're lucky, Limon will treat us to a photo of the finished piece…

Gary Ham's wood toy Frank Kozik piece for "They Came From The Streets 2"!

You might recall that last year Gary Ham crafted a wooden homage to The Sucklord, which we announced HERE. And now Ham is at it again, having delivered a fantastic wood toy version of Frank Kozik for the upcoming "They Came From The Streets 2" group custom show. Entitled the "KoziKit," this piece features the plaid flannel wearing Kozik with his trademark "K" emblazoned upon his forehead (as well as an Anarchy symbol on his shirt, another reoccurring image in Kozik's repertoire), a cigarette in his mouth, and NIKE sneakers on his feet. As for accessories, this figure comes with: a Smorkin' Labbit & Smorkin' Grenade, his faithful cat helper, a copy of Kozik's Desperate Measures art collection, a wrench, a stack of money, a copy of Preston Blair's Animation book, a vinyl LP record, and a Kozik "Beastie Boys" show poster print. The Sucklord piece went at auction for $585, so one can only wonder what this beautiful follow-up will be priced at.

"They Came From The Streets 2," organized by the guys of Urban Vinyl Daily, opens on June 1st at UNHeardof, 323 W 4th St., Cincinnati, OH 45202.
Contributing artists include: Frank Kozik, Scott Tolleson, Gary Ham, DrilOne, Eyeone, 64 Colors, ValleyDweller, Steve Talkowski, Rsin, Lunartik, VISEone, Task One, Luke Cheuh, THARP, Nerviswr3k, Ian Ziobrowski, Abe Lincoln JR., Scribe and Alisa Ross, Squink, A Little Stranger, JFury, Jon Chase, JC Rivera, Maxx242, Chase Tafoya, Chris Brett, Dez Einswell, Terribly Odd, Jason Gallo, and Cache.

Round 5 x Jeremy “MAD” Madl release poster art for upcoming Bruce Lee mini-figure collaboration

It's been some time since we first announced HERE the powerhouse collaboration between Round 5 and MAD... and honestly, I was getting kinda concerned (not really, hahaha). Well the reason for the temporay silence is because they have been strategically planning their next move... and here we go! Bruce Lee’s Temple of Kung Fu gets some official poster treatment featuring a selection of the 28 characters that will hit shelves this summer.

So this is an official teaser that shows off the good characters (left) and the bad ones (right)... and how cool is that loose illustrative style. We also have another treat for all of you... a peek at the box art for this series that houses the blind box assortments of the 3-inch figures in the Bruce Lee Temple of Kung Fu platform. Each box will contain standard figures as well as hyper-limited variants... and I personally can't wait to get some of these in hand! More very soon!

Toy2r x Swarovski's 8" Qee Bear for Michele Reis!

Michele Reis, the Hong Kong model & actress as well as spokeswoman & designer at Swarovski, received an extremely special gift while recently in Beijing: a custom made 8" Qee Bear by Toy2r.
Covered in nearly 10,000 Swarovski crystals of varying sizes, the Qee features several design elements specifically for Reis: the "M7 Heart" on the front is from her Magnificent 7 cellphone case design, the "620" on the back is her birthdate, and "JMJ" is the children's charity she founded with her husband & son. With such an amazing looking gift, I can imagine she must have been not only surprised but absolutely thrilled!
