Shawnimals x MPHLabs x Squibbles Ink. - Pork Dumpling mini series revealed!!!

From one mini-figure series to another as Shawn Smith of Shawnimals recently posted up a VERY revealing image of an upcoming Pork Dumpling mini series via his Instagram account... and I gotta say, these are looking uber cute, yes... I said cute!!! Just seeing this first initial tease I am already digging them, and it looks like they are being produced by MPHlabs and Squibbles Ink.... so you know the quality is going to be there. It looks like a few may be flocked, others may be GID (glow in the dark), and some even come with accessories (glasses)... oh, and how can I not mention the awesome Chinese style takeout mini-packaging... CUTE!!! There is not word on a release date, or price, but all will be revealed soon I hope. Until then, marinate on that delicious photo above!

Noferin's Jibibuts 'Artist Series'... revealed!!!!

We posted up some teasers over the past few weeks for the upcoming Noferin Jibibuts 'Artist Series' Collection... heck we even revealed all 12 designs, but the purpose of this post is to show you how clean these designs are as all 12 participating artists and their designs which include: Bubi Au Yeung, Martin Hsu, Squink, Peskimo, Buff Monster, Anna Chambers, Tado, Andrea Kang, Leo Hillier, 64 Colors, Nathan Jurevicius, and — of course — Jibibuts creator Noferin! Above is a great photo of each blind boxed piece... and just like the picture reports, if you buy a case, you will get one of each design. The release date is still TBD, but I can assure you that when these drop they will go fast... and honestly, IMHO could be mini-series of the year... I am digging them alot!!!!

kaNO's custom My Little Pony for Hasbro / Sweet Streets show @ Toy Art Gallery 5/05/2012

Los Angeles based artist kaNO just posted up a really great photo of his completed piece on the the MEGA sized 18" My Little Pony vinyl figure for the the upcoming group custom show titled "My Little Pony Project 2012"!!! As you can see, kaNO stuck to the original form of the figure, and proceeded to apply his steady hand,awesome color pallet, and design to this pony. I am really digging the simplicity of his entry to this show, and it is a great addition to the already growing number of submissions that we have already seen! "RMPO", "RMBP", "RDOB" customs from Carson Catlin for "Most Wanted" show at 1AM Gallery

As the upcoming "Most Wanted: Behind The Hype" gallery show comes closer and closer to opening, we here at SpankyStokes.com continue to get all kinds of cool submissions in for this... and today we are stoked to be showing off the cuts from Carson Catlin. In true CC style like we are used to seeing, Carson took two 4" reticulated Munny's named "RMPO" and "RMBP", along with a 8" reticulated Dunny named "RDOB"... and above is the result! Carsons work is very simplistic in nature as he cuts away at the original figure, leaving lines and shapes behind... but the amount of time and concentration it takes to complete each one, not to mention a steady hand, these are super complex!!! The show opens 6:30pm on May 11th at 1AM Gallery in San Francisco... so if you are in or around the city, swing by!

"LoInHoFu" custom Chuckboy 3" Dunny by Jon Paul Kaiser... is AWESOME!!!!

UK based artist Jon Paul Kaiser continues to knock one home run after another with his constant barrage of colorless custom creations... and this new one is no exception, rather, it's exceptional!!!!! Based on the very popular Chuckboy 3" Dunny and titled "LoInHoFu", this awesome piece was completed as a private commission for one lucky collector out there. I love the skeletal aspect of this custom, and how well the actual form of the OG Dunny plays off the contrast of just the black and white color combinations... awesome!!!!

Bubi Au Yeung & Camilo Bejarano's "Bearycalm" needs one last final push!!!!

With just 16 days to go from the time this is posted, Bubi Au Yeung and Camilo Bejarano have reached a little over half their goal on Kickstarter for their rad "Bearycalm" project... and are asking for your help to get that final push!!!! Muffinman's custom Munny for the upcoming "Most Wanted: Behind The Hype" gallery show is solid. Nice colors, good line work, cool CerebRelaxCapIndustries Inc. cap on his head, but… I mean… wait, does that cap turn around? Yea, it does and…

Holy long-string-of-deleted-expletives-here, Batman!!! We bow before the genius that is Muffinman. And I love that the brain has Munny ears of it's own… simply perfect!

JC Rivera's custom Horselington "Ronin" is ready for some Samurai Action!

JC Rivera recently created this custom Horselington as a commission and I love the look of it. Rivera continues to impress with his sculpting and painting, giving every little aspect such depth and life-like feeling. I especially love the removable Oni mask and the wooden swords. And while this piece might not be available, he does have some fantastic customs in his web shop and — of course — you can always contact him about a possible commissioned piece of your own.

Martin Hsu's piece for Supahcute's show at Leanna Lin's Wonderland!

Martin Hsu's painting, "Baby Crabby Bear," is a wonderful piece of Pandasploitation (the exploitation of a Panda's cuteness). This painting is for the Supahcute Dream Team group show, so emphasizing the adorable is part and parcel, I guess. The shocked looked on the neighboring crabs to precious, but not quite as great as the bamboo cupcake this strange creature is dreaming of.

"Art Too Cute For Words," curated by Supahcute, opens on May 12th and runs through June 24th at Leanna Lin's Wonderland, 5024 Eagle Rock Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90041.

Peter Kato plans to Smash!!! it up in preparation for Avengers!

Peter Kato is a self-acknowledged nerd — or, as he puts it, a "big nerd" — who is eagerly anticipating the release of the brand new Avengers film this weekend. To celebrate, he's decided to release a Smash!!! series, inspired by The Hulk. Above, on the right, is the Smash Turtle Tetsujin, a gamma irradiated version of his classic resin sculpt. Limited to only 8 pieces, you wouldn't like these guys when they get angry… but if you're willing to risk it, then they'll only set you back $20 each. And what fun is having a Hulk themed figure without some soldiers to hunt him? So Kato is also releasing Gamma Shouldiers resin mini-figures, based on the Shock-Shouldiers design… Shown above on the left, these crafty troopers will hunt your Smash Turtle Tetsujin without mercy, or — at least — they will if you're lucky enough to snag one: because while they are also limited to only 8 pieces, the price point is only $5 each! Plus there will be some sweet buttons in this theme for only a buck. The Smash!!! series drops in Kato's web shop tomorrow, May 3rd, at approximately 5PM PST.

Stuart Witter x RunDMB's Batman & Batmobile Munny Custom!

Stuart Witter sculpted a Munny Mobile into the Batmobile and then he created the Batman figure driving it before handing the piece over to RunDMB to hand draw all those beautiful patterns over the vehicle. While I'm a bit of a classicist when it comes to my comics, but this Batmobile is just way too sweet to deny. And I love the look of that Batman… his frowny face, squinted eyes, overly long cowl ears, all perfect.

Chauskoskis's Most Wanted custom 3" Dunny reveal!

Walter "Chauskoskis" Jacott's custom 3" dunny reveal for the Most Wanted Series 3 set is amazing! Those wonderful carrot ears, sculpted bunny faces complete with actual whiskers, and painting that is literally picture perfect. Eight of the pieces are for the blind boxed series while the remaining two are the prototype and an artist proof copy (the ones with their back to the camera in both pictures)… one of them appears to have dark colored overalls on and the other no overalls, but that's just based off my observation and not official word.

Grass Hut imports Japanese strangeness to Portland!

Sometimes you get a press release that is so wonderfully weirdly written that you don't want to change a thing…

Hi guys.We are having a Pico Pico show this Thursday at Grass Hut. Online preview 6pm Wednesday pacific time.Who and what is a Pico Pico?We don't know... are these made under or above ground?In the sky?In a parallel universe?It's unclear.We do know this.These toys and paintings are whack.Each one is crafted by hand in resin and vinyl.Each figure is then hand painted.For some years now the Japanese peoples of Tokyo have sightings of a real Beckos roaming the streets, looking for dance clubs, and delicious flowers to eat.here is proof. this image was not enhanced or photoshopped or touched up in any way.Will we see the mighty Beckos in Portland? In the States?xoBwana.

I might've added a couple of links to help people decipher the above, but that's only because I fear that Atsushi "Picopico" Tomura isn't nearly as well known here in the States as he should be…

Mone's animal themed custom Munnys for Kidrobot's Munnyworld Contest!

Mone shares with us his entries into Kidrobot's Munnyworld contest, which certainly seem to be formidable contenders. Above is the "Butterphant," a highly sculpted 4" Mini Munny made to look like an elephant with butterfly wings for ears. Mone tells us that Disney's Dumbo was an inspiration for this piece, but this elephant isn't cartoonish in the least… lots of wonderfully details sculpting work and the paint job on the "ears" is superb. By comparison, Mone's "Save The Rhino" custom 4" Bub isn't quite as impressive; the fantastic sculpting work is still present, but the creativity of the "Butterphant" seems missing. The multi-colored horns seem out-of-place next to the hyper-realistic body sculpt and if your purpose is to draw attention to Rhinos being hunted for their horns, then I think having one of the horns cut off would've been more effective. Fuller's Black Magic custom Dunnys are summoned forth!

A couple months back, we reported that Fuller Designs was dabbling in the black arts again… summoning forth a new series of Black Magic custom Dunnys. The five-piece finished series, shown above, is every bit as great looking as the original production sketches lead us to believe. And even though the pre-order completed in February, Fuller is changing this line to an open edition… though the ordering period for these ends in one week. I'm not a fan of changing limitations (unless you're making something more rare), but I'll assume Fuller got the permission of everyone that pre-ordered the first time & no one is disgruntled about the change… So, hurry on over to Fuller's web shop and order any of the above five customs at $65 each.

Furry Felines unleashes SDCC Exclusive Handmade Plushes!

The San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) opens on July 12th, which seems so far away but it really isn't… In fact, it's close enough that anyone doing exclusives for the show are already hip-deep into the creation process. Unless you're Furry Feline, who seem so on-the-ball that they're already completely set & ready! "Dragonmaster Ringo" sees the plush cat Ringo dress up in the yellow-and-black jumpsuit that Bruce Lee made famous (and Uma Thurman payed tribute to in Quentin Tarantino's Kill Bill series), complete with a set of removable, matching nunchucks! And then there's "Puffridge Dragon," where Purridge dons a wonderful Puff the Magic Dragon costume. Both plush figures are handmade with fleece and limited edition (though unnumbered).
