Threadless launches Mike Mitchell tees from "Just Like Us" series!

Remember our post HERE a few weeks back about Mike Mitchell's "Just Like Us" show at Gallery1988 L.A... well, the peeps over at Threadless, the community-based design company dug the show too and decided to launch a whole line of shirts based on the work from Mikes' show as part of this month’s “Made By” series. Mitchell, who designed the famous “I’m With Coco” tour poster for Conan O’Brien, now has 12 of his pieces from the “Just Like Us” series printed on Threadless tees! The tees feature lovable pop-culture icons within their “everyday lives,” with recognizable people/characters such as Bob Ross, Bill Cosby, Golem, Tobias Bluth, Severus Snape and Slimer, and are on sale at threadless.com for $19.50... a sweet deal, for some sweet shirts! DUDE... it's the debut of Dudebox!!!!

It's been a long time coming, and the folks over at Dudebox are stoked to be dropping a whole slew of designer toys this month... in fact Dudebox debuts on the 10th of May with a range of designer vinyl toys by some of the most exciting street artists working today. Their emphasis is on giving artists a platform to create character design, graphic illustration and fine art. They are working closely with a whole bunch of established greats such: Pete Fowler, Attaboy, Mark Gmehling, Jonny Wan, Yok, Travis Price, Hicks, Drunk Park, Conzo, Andrews Kraph, Niark1, Riccardo Bucchioni, Grapheart, 2MUCH, Dust, Sebastien Pie, ALFA, Mike Friedrich, Mr Gauky, Chauskoskis, Suki Bamboo, and Junichi Tsuneoka... as well as some of the freshest unknown talent, not to mention the release of a DIY version... so get ready!!!

As mentioned above, the 10th of May sees the release of the "Big Bang". This is the debut mini-figure series of vinyl art collectables, featuring a blind-boxed assortment of 10 designs across the three different 'Dude' shapes. They will be priced at around $11 for the blind boxes and they also have an assortment of 8" figures that will retail for around $55 a piece. There is so much going on with this new company... which is getting me really excited. Much more info will be posted up in the coming week, so keep them eyes peeled!!!!

"Ultimate Collector Series 9" vinyl figures from Round 5

HERE WE GO!!!!! Alright fight fans, check this news out as Round 5 just dropped info on thier latest series, the "Ultimate Collector" Series 9 which is headlined by a limited edition debut of UFC and Pride great Don "The Predator" Frye, featuring his iconic mustache and American flag shorts. An exclusive UFC edition... limited to 750 pieces. Series 9 also marks the appearances by welterweight fan-favorite Nick Diaz, newly crowned UFC lightweight champion Ben "Smooth" Henderson, The Ultimate Fighter alumnus Chris "The Crippler" Leben, and Jason "Mayhem" Miller, along with an updated Championship Edition of Cain Velasquez, paying tribute to his victory over Brock Lesnar at UFC 121 to claim the UFC heavyweight title. As with previous Ultimate Collector Series releases, each figure in Series 9 arrives on shelves in protective UFC-themed packaging, containing a short bio detailing each fighter. "Ultimate Collector" Series 9 will be available this month at Walmart and Toys"R"Us in Canada, and FYE in the United States.

That is non permanent, yet very durable solution to customizing your kicks! The idea is that with the Sneakerskinz you can practically have a new custom Sneaker every week. Utilizing the same pair of kicks!!! It's also intended for young teens who want to customize there own kicks but don't necessarily have the skills or the cash to do it themselves. It's not intended for pros... but I can see some going all out on them! DIY designer "Zukie" figure to drop on May 25th!!!!

So it looks like since our last update HERE, Alison P. aka Miss Zukie is right on track to release her first vinyl DIY designer "Zukie" figure... which by the way is slated for May 25th, 2012!!! This has got to be a very exciting moment for her and she tells us that each one will come in all white and with it will be a custom box where you can color on it as well. Lickyourelbows's custom Dunny for Most Wanted show at 1AM Gallery!

Man, it feels like just yesterday that we posted a teaser picture of Bill "Lickyourelbow" Hewitt's custom Dunny for the upcoming "Most Wanted: Behind The Hype" gallery show. Oh wait, it was just yesterday! He just finished this tiki inspired piece last night, so we've got the full reveal today! I love the ears especially, but the beaded necklace and grass skirt are equally nice touches. Those Most Wanted guys are continuing their trend of wowing me.

PodgyPanda x Cris Rose's Podgonaut Edition B: Custard!

Here's a little tit for tat: earlier today we posted about the new Ramsay version of the PodgyPanda designed and Cris Rose hand-made resin figure collaboration, so now here's info about Podgy's Podgonaut Edition B: Custard! These 3"-tall beauts are being made in an edition of only 5, to be released on May 3rd at 6PM London time for $140 each. We're told that there is one chase variant of the Podgonaut frowning and that one of the 5 figures will come with a Monkey Mechanic second figure! When released, you'll be able to buy these in PodgyPanda's web shop, along with a selection of one-off customs that each come with food accessories (the one-offs will be $180 each)!

In addition to the above news, PodgyPanda has also been fleshing out the world of the Podgonauts. For instance, the backstory for the Custard Edition is:

The Podgonauts have found themselves in a very sticky situation, they've landed on a planet where there's Custard tar pits everywhere! The Podgonaut space team seems to be in a bit of a kerfuffle. Let's hope they manage to get out safely!

Podgy is hoping to continue evolving the concept and wants to actually create a comic to illustrate their backstory. And, according to him, the "story isn't your generic Panda in a Spacesuit tale, there's a reason why the Panda Podgonauts are out there exploring far flung planets made of food!"

R3/MB's "Monstercan" custom Android is a spooky good time!

The customizing duo known as R3/MB have taken a shot at tweaking the Android platform and, I'd say, it was a great effort! They converted the vinyl piece into a trash can, which does look a little rough in places, but then detached the head & added a monstrous hand pushing forth from within. Really love the idea and the execution was solid, they certainly did create the "Monstercan" they were hoping to. Alas, this piece has already sold, but the duo might be available for commission work by contacting them at DunnyAddicts [at] gmail [dot] com.

Mekanikku's piece for Supahcute's show at Leanna Lin's Wonderland!

If you're familiar with Mekanikku's work, then you're certainly aware of her "Dear Japan Drive" — for which she hopes to make 100 handmade deer plushes, all sold to benefit Japan Red Cross aid. I'm mainly bringing this up to illustrate that when it comes to making deer plush animals, she knows what she's doing! And her "Unicorn Deer" for the Supahcute Dream Team group show looks amazing! If it's in-line with her normal deer plushes, then it's an 8" tall embroidered plush made of felt and polyfil. Everyone knows (or is) someone that can use this level of cuteness in their lives!

Davidkraig's Jinx is devilishly beautiful custom Munny!

Davidkraig's "Jinx" is a custom 7-inch-tall Munny, heavily modified with super sculpey. What an amazing devil or satyr recreation! And the LEDs in the eyes are just brilliant. All the hair detail and the little accessories are what really do it for me on this one, but I think we can all agree that Davidkraig certainly hit it out of the park… WAY out of the park!

You might recall our original post about the PodgyPanda designed and Cris Rose hand-made resin figure series, which sold out from both almost immediate. If you've lamented missing out, then prepare for wave 2! Shown above is Cris Rose's 3"-tall Ramsay Edition B, which is carefully painted in the burnt cream colors one would expect of something referred to as the Crème Brûlée edition. To follow up the mystery of the first teaser image, we've received the freshly minted one shown above… which does give us a bit of information. First off, this is a collaboration between Jon Walsh and Matt A*, a team-up which is leading the Tenacious Toys blog to suspect that "Matt is pouring resin figures for Jon to be customized by the bad-ass artists listed in this flyer." As for the "bad-ass artists," we have: Nikejerk, Fuller, Ian Z (aka Ian Ziobrowski), UNCLE, JFury, Halfbad (aka Adam Pratt), Nick Curtis / Trust Pigs, Shez, 2bitHACK, and Jon Walsh himself… so we've got a lot of great customizers and me. Plaseebo's Giclee Prints for for BITS for at Lot F gallery!

Bob "Plaseebo" Conge has created a massive new series of giclée prints for his part in the upcoming BITS art show. Each of this prints have a live print area of 18" x 24" on 200 gsm archival cotton rag paper measuring 24" x 32". Signed and hand-numbered, these prints each appear to be based on photographs of multi media collages Conge created (like the two shown above).

More on Menace Inc. Studios's forthcoming "Space Case" custom Android series 1!

In a follow-up to our announcement about Menace Inc. Studios's "Space Case" custom Android series, the image pretty much says it all: the 6 blind boxed customs will be dropping June 21st and go for $45 each, there will be 1 chase in the group, but they will all come in custom made & printed boxes. Instead of a golden ticket, there will be a signed coin redeemable for an original painting. Overall, this is shaping up to be a very cool sounding set!
