Wild animals unleashing their inner ferocity amidst a landscape of pop culture critters, this is the brave new world of "Next Week's Adventure." The solo exhibit of NoseGo's work twists iconic imagery from various sources alongside beasts both common and exotic. As you can see with the above examples, the end results are striking, humorous and memorable.
"Next Week's Adventure" opens on Friday, April 27th with a reception from 6-10PM and will remain available for viewing through June 16th at Paradigm Gallery, 2020 South St., Philadelphia, PA 19146.

Otto Bjornik's Revenge of the Wolves custom Munnys and Dunnys!

Otto Bjornik decided to make his designer toy customization a family affair, enlisting the aid of his little sister to hand sew clothing for various figures in his newest series, "Revenge of the Wolves." I have quite the soft spot when it comes to fairy tales, but Bjornik definitely hit it out of the park here. He's even crafted quite the intricate story of his own:
The rumbling in her babies' tummies is too much for Lyca to bear. It has been days since they've last eaten, not since her husband was viciously killed while foraging for food. Every night, Lyca and her little ones visit the bluffs where she and her husband first fell in love. There, she wails for their loss and longingly calls out for him in the vast emptiness. But the only sound that answers is the echo of her cubs' whimpers and the growling of their tummies. She must snap out of her grief and feed her starving babies. With a mother's instincts and a widow's vindictiveness, Lyca vows to avenge her husband's murder. She already got rid of the lumberjack. All she has to do now is devise a plan to get that rabbit Lago once and for all.
Bjornik plans to sell the toys in pairs: a 3" dunny Wolf Cub with a 3" dunny Red Riding Hood being $200, while a 7" munny Wolf with a 3" dunny Red Riding Hood will be $500. There will also be a Lago figure revealed on the 24th at 9PM EST, when the series becomes available for sale in Bjornik's online shop. But if anyone is interested in buying a complete set (7" munny Wolf, two 3" dunny Wolf Cubs, and a 3" dunny Red Riding Hood), then they should contact Bjornik prior to the 24th… that's a pre-order exclusive offer.

OsiRisORion's custom 8" Dunny for the Tenacious Toys x London Candy Company show!

If it wasn't for those big distinctive ears, I would've never believed that this kaiju monstrosity started out life as an 8" Dunny. Made for the upcoming "The Candy-Coated Custom Show," this "Sweet Demon" of OsiRisORion's creation reminds me of some creature birthed in the same ocean as Godzilla with a face that only a Predator could love. And the inclusion of the candy on his belly is perfect. Great job, OsiRisORion!

"The Candy-Coated Custom Show" organized by Tenacious Toys, opens on April 21st with a reception from 7 to 9PM at The London Candy Company, 1442 Lexington Ave. at 94th St., New York, NY 10128. The show will be available for viewing for two weeks after the opening night.

Custom "Boba Fett" Mini-Munny by David Kraig

Artist David Kraig hit the ground running in the custom toy scene, and most recently he was asked by a collector to create a custom Mini-Munny themed off Star Wars own intergalactic bounty hunter, "Boba Fett"... and above is the result! This 4" figure is jam packed with detail and I am still loving the cartoony style that David brings to each one of his customs. He mentions that this custom was created with super sculpey, acrylic paints and some leather that he fashioned for his belt... RAD! For more pictures of this custom, as well as many other from David, visit his website HERE.

Little Jawa Is Going To Kick Your...

Lol, I bet you are waiting for me to finish that sentence... But this amazing little custom by JFury deserves your whole attention! Last week we posted up a teaser HERE, and now this little guy inspired by the short little creature from Star Wars, JFury has done the impossible and made this cute little creature appear deadly, but don't worry still cute! Using a 3" Dunny as the platform, and sculpting away some awesome clothing and most importantly equipped with a handmade weapon, this Jawa is ready for battle. I love how true to the movie this custom looks, but how the artist still incorporated his own little details into the figure. JFury has said that this custom is already spoken for but may be open to creating a few more. So if you want to see if you can entice this amazing artist into creating one of these awesome customs please contact him HERE.

Frank Mysterio's PLAYSAM custom for the show at Super7!

So I have a soft spot for weird looking monsters, which works to Frank Mysterio's favor as that is exactly what his custom Playsam Streamliner Classic has on it! Made for the upcoming "PLAYSAM 500" group show, which will be hosted at Super7 with all proceeds from sales going to the World Childhood Foundation, Mysterio didn't re-invent the wheel here… he took the Playsam, did some nice paint fades on it, then painted a sweet looking creature on top. This looks, to me, like a work-in-progress pic simply because you can see a pencil drawn tail for the two-headed behemoth; but, even if this is the final piece, it has a freakin' sweet looking two-headed behemoth on it! C'mon, you know you love it too!

"PLAYSAM 500" opens on April 28th at Super7, 1427 Haight St. (@ Masonic), San Francisco, CA 94117. Participating artists include: Andrew Bell, Arbito, Clayton Bailey, Dacosta!, Super Cooper Berella, Beast Brothers, Betso, Kat Brunegraff, 64 Colors, Carson Catlin, DrilOne, Tristan Eaton, Brian Flynn, George Gaspar, Paul Greenwood, Gary Ham, Greglovestoast, Nathan Hamill, Jay222, Walter “Chauskoskis” Jacott, Jryu, Jeremiah Ketner, Paul Kaiju, Aya Kakeda, Frank Kozik, Josh Herbolsheimer, Travis Lampe, Matthew Langille, Josh Mayhem, Sarah Lunabee Miskelly, Frank Mysterio, Motorbot, Ritzy Periwinkle, Plaseebo, Patricio Oliver, Task One, Dave Pressler, Reactor 88, Jason “Aka Big Money” Rodan, Jermaine Rogers, Cris Rose, Scribe, Rsin Art, Ardabus Rubber, Skinner, Bwana Spoons, John “Spanky” Stokes, Steve Talkowski, Cameron Tiede, Scott Tolleson, Vise One, Angie Vtec, Ben Walker, Adam Washburn, The Air Rat, Julie West, Kevin Winnik, Nicholas Woodworth... and many others!

A Little Stranger & Mister Lister's Star Wars art for May The 4th Be With You!

For the upcoming May The 4th Be With You group art show in England, the FullCircle Gallery will be filled with a massive display of vintage Star Wars figures and vehicles — over 100 of which are still minty fresh in their packaging. But, even cooler, is that they've asked an assortment of 'contemporary' artists to interpret Star Wars for them! Shown above, we have Holly "A Little Stranger" Stanway's "Taun-Taun Rider" painting and Mister Lister's arachnid-esque Darth Vader illustration. Both are lovely, in very different ways, and both will be for sale during the event.

"May The 4th Be With You" will run from May 4th until May 6th at the FullCircle Gallery, Kirkstall Rd., Leeds, LS3 1JL, England. Participating artists include: A Little Stranger, Alto, Abell Octovan, Benjamin Wright, Brutherford Industries, Chris Madden, Couk-Art, Craig Knowles, Drew Millward, Doctor Simpo, Elmos Empire, Guy Mckinley, Howker, Hugh (Shug) Raine, Isaac Lenkiewicz, John Allison, Joe List, Jonathan Edwards, Jon Paul Kaiser, Kristyna Baczynski, Map Map, Phil Wall, Rabbit Portal, Run DMB, Ryan Hall, Squink, Steve Tillotson, TheLozBoz, The Pern, Tom Hovey, Tom J Newell, Ume Toys, Undead8bit, and Xander Laytin.

Luke Chueh x 1xRUN's Nine Inch Nails inspired print!

Luke Chueh's original painting "Head Like A Hole," inspired by the Nine Inch Nails song of the same name, was made for the Lyric 2012 group show at 323East. And while the piece doesn't overtly reference either God or money, I find myself mesmerized by it as I normally am by Chueh's work. And I guess I'm not alone, as 1xRUN will be releasing the image as a 14" x 14" signed & numbered screen archival pigment print limited to only 100 copies. Each one will cost $65 and they go on sale tomorrow, Friday, April 20th at 12 Noon EST HERE.

Scribe's PLAYSAM custom for the show at Super7!

Scribe's contribution to the upcoming "PLAYSAM 500" group show, which asks artist to customize a Playsam Streamliner Classic and will be hosted at Super7 with all proceeds from sales going to the World Childhood Foundation, is boat-loads of fun. His solid sculpting & painting has turned the rather simple looking wood car into a perfectly cartoonish rabbit, complete with expressive eyes and wonderfully over-sized nose. I'm curious if there's a fluffy white tail on the back, though; 'cause that would just make it perfect.

"PLAYSAM 500" opens on April 28th at Super7, 1427 Haight St. (@ Masonic), San Francisco, CA 94117. Participating artists include: Andrew Bell, Arbito, Clayton Bailey, Dacosta!, Super Cooper Berella, Beast Brothers, Betso, Kat Brunegraff, 64 Colors, Carson Catlin, DrilOne, Tristan Eaton, Brian Flynn, George Gaspar, Paul Greenwood, Gary Ham, Greglovestoast, Nathan Hamill, Jay222, Walter “Chauskoskis” Jacott, Jryu, Jeremiah Ketner, Paul Kaiju, Aya Kakeda, Frank Kozik, Josh Herbolsheimer, Travis Lampe, Matthew Langille, Josh Mayhem, Sarah Lunabee Miskelly, Frank Mysterio, Motorbot, Ritzy Periwinkle, Plaseebo, Patricio Oliver, Task One, Dave Pressler, Reactor 88, Jason “Aka Big Money” Rodan, Jermaine Rogers, Cris Rose, Scribe, Rsin Art, Ardabus Rubber, Skinner, Bwana Spoons, John “Spanky” Stokes, Steve Talkowski, Cameron Tiede, Scott Tolleson, Vise One, Angie Vtec, Ben Walker, Adam Washburn, The Air Rat, Julie West, Kevin Winnik, Nicholas Woodworth... and many others!
