Dead Hand Toys "CandyTeuth" resin custom set for "The Candy-Coated Custom Show" on 4/21/2012

Brian A. aka Lysol of Dead Hand Studios just sent over some bitchen photos of his submission for the upcoming Tenacious Toys show titled "The Candy-Coated Custom Show" which is going to be displayed at The London Candy Company, and hot damn do those look amazing! Brian took his "Teuth" figure and super-sized him to a whopping 7" tall (see the size comparison with the picture on the left), then embedded actual candy inside each one of those resin figures... and I gotta say they look seamless! Brian tells us that the second one from the right is for the show and that the other 5 will be available at Tenacious Toys on Sunday, April 23rd! This series of six candy filled, resin casts are all different, but will be priced at the super reasonable price of $100 a pop... and I guarantee these will sell out! The show takes place on Saturday, April 21, 2012 at The London Candy Company, 1442 Lexington Ave, New York, NY so if you are in the area... don't miss it!

MAD's "Breaking Bad" mini-resin MAD*L

After the 'Clear' and 'Black' mini-resin MAD*L's that sold out in record time, MAD just released an image of his next release... and it is a translucent blue version that he is calling the "Breaking Bad" edition, based off the blue crystal meth that was made popular by the TV show Breaking Bad... I suggested calling it the "Heisenberg" edition, but who am I :-) This little beaut looks amazing and I am sure will polish up really nice... but what is that I see, it appears that this version -unlike the previous two- might have an articulated head... AWESOME! There is no word on when these will drop, but I am sure he will utilize his "random release time" power just like the last drops… so we encourage everyone to follow his artist and platform Twitter feeds for updated information.

"Mr Death Inside" custom Munny by "RX"

We just got a really great email for Italian designer and cartoonist known as "RX" who is sharing with us today his latest Munny. Titled "Mr Death Inside", this custom turned out extremely good and he tells us that the subject is based on his series "Me and Mr Death" that we have posted about recently HERE. It's pretty creeptastic is you look at it long enough... a skin mask, awesome! "RX's" cartoon background really shines through in his customs as it looks like his 2D character jumped right off the page... really cool!

Lunartik's "Waves" Heavy Metal Qee custom revealed!

We posted up HERE a few weeks back a nice little teaser of Matt "Lunartik" JOnes work-in-progress pic of this Heavy Metal Qee custom... well now, all has been revealed which leads me asking the question... where is the Qee? Well, it's there but instead of using a traditional QEE, Matt decides to use the Knuckle Bear version so it is almost like it should be a Heavy Metal Kunckle Bear... but those are just semantics I guess. The custom itself is very unique as it features a little guy riding in the head/cockpit of this submarine errrr Knucklemarine as he is waving at us. It actually makes me smile and I like how the title of it "Waves" has two meanings... the waves in the ocean and the wave of the little pilot! This custom along with many others will be on display and up for grabs at the Heavy Metal Qee show which is being hosted at the Forbidden Planet Megastore London from the 12th of April until the 19th of April.

"Rockabilly" custom Foster by Jon-Paul Kaiser

Rockin a delicious looking hair-do, this custom Super7 Foster by UK's Jon-Paul Kaiser is yet another reason why JPK is one of the most sought after custom artists out there. His use of just black and white is so stark and simplistic in nature, yet, he is able to pull off some of the sweetest designs out there. This little guy dubbed "Rockabilly" was completed as a custom commission... and I think it goes without saying, but that lucky collector has got to be stoked with the end result!

eeKs & JC Rivera unleash their NomNoms!

Last week we showed you some amazing custom sculpted dunnys that eeKs had made and JC Rivera was going to paint, so it only makes sense that you get to see the final product: the Red Sleeved and Golden Cheeser NomNoms! Rivera continues to knock his paintjobs out of the park, though the hand-writing on the back of the heads could be tighter looking. These pieces are up for pre-order now, being made to order is seems, in your choice of colorway: they are $65 each, take 1-2 weeks to turnaround, and you can grab yours either from eeKs's web shop HERE.

Plaseebo's "Skullwagon" PLAYSAM custom for the show at Super7!

This piece by Bob "Plaseebo" Conge is a custom Playsam Streamliner Classic for the upcoming "PLAYSAM 500" group show, which will be hosted at Super7 and have all proceeds from sales going to the World Childhood Foundation. The full title on this piece is "The 1919 Skullwagon Land Speed Record Car" and there's not much to say except that it is absolutely to die for. Since I can't really do much except rave about it, I decided to post Conge's extremely detailed (and well thought out) history of the vehicle… Enjoy!
The 1919 Skullwagon was designed and piloted by Claude Faytte Bragdon, the american architect based in Rochester, New York. The car was sponsored by the Fox Sisters, a clairvoyant duo from the same city, who dabbled in the paranormal and spiritualist beliefs.
The Skullwagon was powered by a 500 hp psychic energy turbine, the first and only of its kind. At 1:30 PM on November 23rd 1919 the Fox sisters had arranged for 8,697 of their followers to tune in and direct their psychic energy to the specific coordinates of latitude and longitude of the location of the Skullwagon on the starting line of the Salt Flats Racetrack Playa in Death Valley California. At 1:31 PM the cars aluminum skin began to shimmer, emitting a pulsating blue light and at 1:36 the Skullwagon broke inertia, silently inching forward. Continually gaining speed at an ever increasing rate with only the sound of its wheels turning through the white dust and the air whistling along its sleek body, the Skullwagon appeared more akin to a sailing ship than car. At 1:43 she reached a top speed of 167 miles per hour shattering the previous land speed record. A title the Skullwagon would hold for the next 28 years.
Some years later, long after the memory of the Skullwagon had faded from racing history, the first siting of the "sailing stones" appeared and continues to this day. The "Sailing Stones" which leave linear "racetrack" imprints are a geological phenomenon found in the playa. The stones, some weighing over 100 pounds, slowly move across the surface, leaving a track as they go, without human or animal intervention. They have never been seen or filmed in motion. The stones only move once every two or three years and most tracks last for three or four years.
Some believe the stones are being moved by the residue of psychic energy from that long ago run of the Skullwagon.
"PLAYSAM 500" opens on April 28th at Super7, 1427 Haight St. (@ Masonic), San Francisco, CA 94117. Participating artists include: Andrew Bell, Arbito, Clayton Bailey, Dacosta!, Super Cooper Berella, Beast Brothers, Betso, Kat Brunegraff, 64 Colors, Carson Catlin, DrilOne, Tristan Eaton, Brian Flynn, George Gaspar, Paul Greenwood, Gary Ham, Greglovestoast, Nathan Hamill, Jay222, Walter “Chauskoskis” Jacott, Jryu, Jeremiah Ketner, Paul Kaiju, Aya Kakeda, Frank Kozik, Josh Herbolsheimer, Travis Lampe, Matthew Langille, Josh Mayhem, Sarah Lunabee Miskelly, Frank Mysterio, Motorbot, Ritzy Periwinkle, Plaseebo, Patricio Oliver, Task One, Dave Pressler, Reactor 88, Jason “Aka Big Money” Rodan, Jermaine Rogers, Cris Rose, Scribe, Rsin Art, Ardabus Rubber, Skinner, Bwana Spoons, John “Spanky” Stokes, Steve Talkowski, Cameron Tiede, Scott Tolleson, Vise One, Angie Vtec, Ben Walker, Adam Washburn, The Air Rat, Julie West, Kevin Winnik, Nicholas Woodworth... and many others!

Shez's custom "Bonsai Munny" is a thing of Japanese beauty!

When we've been graced with new pieces by Shez before, the response has always been rock solid: people love his work. And I see no reason why this newest piece will be any different. Shez recently sold one of his favorite customs, a mini munny decorated to look like a cherry blossom tree, so he decided to build a replacement… a bonsai tree version. This mini munny had the extending branches made by covering wire with sculpey and then painting over the finished design. I adore how the one arm has been replaced by a branch and the moss applied to make the bonsai leaf growths looks fabulous. And, unless I'm wrong, that kanji on the back of the munny's head is actually a stylized version of Shez's signature.
We continue to get the impression that Shez is going to explode on the scene big time soon, so the time to snap up a commission from him is now! And you can do so by writing him at: xshezx [at] yahoo [dot] com.

FrankenFactory's new Mad Sad Mouse figure!

Shea "FrankenFactory" Brittain has done a brand new casting of her "Mad Sad Mouse" figure, which I think is an amazingly cool looking design. I think the angular facial features pop perfectly against the smoothly crafted remainder of the form. Brittain claims this is a masculine character, but I can't help seeing that wonderfully plump base as a long skirt. We're certain these bad boys will be getting the Monster Kolor paint job soon & then will make their way into Brittain's online shop (and then into your hearts and homes).

Trust Pigs's custom Sarlacc Pit (from Star Wars) Frank Kozik x Kidrobot Labbit!

I had a solo art show opening this past weekend at Dream in Plastic, with all the works being inspired by Star Wars in some way, and — without fail — this was the most asked about piece: the Landscape Labbit (Sarlacc Pit) custom. It's a 10" Frank Kozik x Kidrobot Labbit but not the obvious "Choice Cuts Labbit" — I couldn't splurge the extra money for one that already came with the bone in mouth, so I chopped off the standard cigarette and built my own bone accessory. The Sarlacc Pit and Boba Fett are official Star Wars action figure releases, though I think the Sarlacc was from a Target Exclusive box set, and both are mounted in place; the Sarlacc is actually sunken into the Labbit, with clay used to smooth the lip between the two. And the thing that surprised most people? The sand isn't sand… no, seriously; I hand-glued ground English Walnut Shells all over this guy to get the sand effect, mainly because they have more color variation than real sand does. As of Saturday night, this piece had not been sold. You can view the entire show online HERE with ordering information, if you are interested.

OMFG! custom by Jimmy Foo of Dory's Crawdad Kid!

Rising up from the deep, beads of water streaming down his crusty shell, the squid fisherman known as Daniel "Dory" Yu's Crawdad Kid appears. Hey, wait a second… those sweet October Toys's OMFG! Series 1 figures didn't come painted, or with a perfectly cool bucket of squid tendrils accessory? That's because the above is unique, custom painted mini figure by Jimmy Foo. The colors look great, some nice washes that lend depth and dimensionality to the piece, but that accessory is what puts it over-the-top for me; just right, one might say! Foo is planning to do a variety of OMFG! customs and then unleashing them in his online store, so keep your eyes peeled for more.

SHOK-1's newest street art pieces develop an x-ray style…

Graffiti pioneer — and Fatcap designer — SHOK-1 appears to be experimenting, exploring and developing an "x-ray style." I think it looks absolutely stunning, with those transparent elements mingling with solid outer lines… very eye-catching and awe-inspiring.

WWWetworks's threeA Tomorrow Queen custom Tank Girl!

Carlo "WWWetworks" Cacho recently put this custom interpretation of Tank Girl, from the British Deadline anthology mag as well as her own comic books, together using parts from threeA 1/6th Tomorrow Queen and Little Shadow releases. I think she looks spot-on, right down to the writing and insignia on her baseball bat. I'm not quite sure why her belt buckle looks like a Spawn emblem, but it does… though that addition of the Judge Dredd helmet at her feet is brilliant. Overall, Cacho did a wonderful job recreating this character; I'm sure some lucky Tank Girl fan will snag this up tout de suite.
