The good folks over at 64Colors just dropped some VERY revealing photos via their Instagram account, and boy oh boy is this good news for their fans out there. From the looks of it there are a total of 6 colors, and from what I can tell there are 2 faces... so if you are counting, that is 12 different versions up for grabs... can you say Gumdrop army?!?! *REVIEW* Nathan Hamill x 3DRetro "Stealth" edition Bellicose Bunny with WonderCon 2012 release

Releasing at this year's WonderCon 2012 is a very special new edition of 3dRetro and Nathan Hamill's Bellicose Bunny... and in my opinion, the best colorway yet. Titled the "Stealth" edition, this rocket riding rabbit is sporting a spiffy gloss black on matte black colorscheme which really lends to the sculpt of the figure. I got my hands on this piece before it was released and gave it a once over in a LIVE video review where we had viewers join in while I unboxed it... and above is the result!

The gloss/matte technique is nothing new, but the process completed on this figure is something like I have never seen before, the matte was super dull and the gloss was really glossy... giving it an amazing look, and feel! Like mentioned above, this is set to release at this weekends WonderCon in Anaheim for $50 a pop this weekend, and it's limited to just 150 pieces. Oh and Nathan will be on hand at booth #185 on Saturday the 17th from 1pm-2:30pm for a signing session... so head on out then! I can really see this edition doing extremely well, and would recommend picking it up! Be on the lookout for any leftovers later on the follow week to be posted up online!

Lunabee x Cris Rose?!? Yup, Robobees Series 4 is coming!

A wonderfully sculpted bubble base with wee legs and v-shaped wings done by Cris Rose? Those cute little LEGO antenna affixed on top? Oh yes, only a month after Series 3 it appears as though Lunabee is preparing for Robobees Series 4! These 3" tall robotic bees will be fluttering into the hearts and homes of dedicated fans soon, we're sure, but — it appears — that there will only be 5 designs this time around (like with Series 3). We're going to guess that they'll have the same $85 price point as the previous set, but there's been no word yet. Given the speed at which Lunabee works her adorable painting magic, we expect this set to drop in the next week or two… no, really, that's how good she is at what she does. More information as it comes, but keep your eyes on Lunabee's web shop to avoid disappointment.

Jeremiah Ketner's Bellicose Bunny custom for Nathan Hamill's Bellicosity show!

Jeremiah Ketner appears to have turned his colorful and precise painting style into something a little more bunny-like… Bellicose Bunny-like, to be precise. Yes, another amazing piece for the upcoming "Bellicosity" group custom show Nathan Hamill has been assembling. I love the swaths of bright color and the fine detail work that can easily be seen above… absolutely stunning. With less than two weeks away from the show, who's super psyched to see it all come together? Well, me, for one… but I'm sure you are too!

Brian Flynn's "Crystal Mecha" from Super7 is almost done!

Long ago, in the San Diego Comic Con of 2011, we saw a prototype for Brian Flynn's "Crystal Mecha" design. And the image returned during Super7's amazingly fun 2012 Teaser campaign. Then, recently, Flynn posted an image on his Instagram with the tag "Crystal Mecha is getting there…" Oh yes, it mostly certainly is. You can see some differences between this and the previous prototype, notably the smaller chest piece. And, for the first time, a clear shot of some of the tail. Don't know about you, but I'm dying to add this piece to my collection.

Motorbot's take on Super Mario Bros. for Vinyl Thoughts 2!

One of my daily joys is following Motorbot's Twitter feed, since — as many already know — the man is a crazy good toy making factory in and upon himself. And, of course, he posts tons of work-in-progress pics of the multitude of projects he simultaneously undertakes. And they are all amazing. Above is the latest pic he's posted from this series with many of the lead-up teases posted below.
***UPDATED*** My first thoughts were that these were for the upcoming video game themed  Vinyl Thoughts 2 group show… and Motorbot has confirmed it! Don't these just make you think of the Piranha Plants that you always had to cautiously avoid in Super Mario Bros.? And they should, since that's exactly what they are. An amazingly detailed sculpt job topped with a clean paint finish… damn, Motorbot is good.

Vinyl Thoughts 2 is a one-night show on Thursday, March 15th from 7PM until 11PM at The Quixotic World, 2824 Main St., Dallas, TX 75226.

Buff Monster's art show & trading card release at Corey Helford Gallery!

Saturday, April 14th, 2012… a day that will become noted in the history books. Well, er, the history of Buff Monster books, at least. Not only will his fifth and "most ambitious show" at the Corey Helford Gallery open that day, but it is also his birthday and the celebration of… a trading card series being released? Could it be that Buff Monster has — like Sucklord's Suckpax — created his own trading card series?!? One could certainly hope! And then one could hope that someone kind in California would go to the opening and pick up a bunch for him.

Buff Monster's "Legend of the Pink Cherry" solo show with new paintings, a birthday celebration and new trading card series release has an opening reception on Saturday, April 14th at 7PM until 10PM. The show will run until May 5th at the Corey Helford Gallery, 8522 Washington Blvd., Culver City, CA 90232.

Lou Pimentel's pillows are for sneaker and art fans everywhere!

The fantastic watercolor painter Lou Pimentel is taking a strange — but wonderful — step into commercialization; he's having two of his iconic sneaker paintings emblazoned on pillows. Created by hand, these soft pieces of art are as useful in the household as they are decorative. Measuring a full 12" by 12" these will nicely decorate any couch. The exterior is a micro fiber velvet (and who doesn't like the feel of that?) with a high-density blown fiber fill, which indicates they should not only be comfy but resilient at keeping their original shape.

At $40 a piece, who can resist getting both the Chuck Taylor and Dunk Pillows? While you might have to wait 2 weeks for your pillow to be made, it is the only waiting involved… since the luxurious items are on sale now in Pimentel's web store.

Chip Thompson's "Watt Boy" screen print is robotastic!

Designer Chip Thompson has made his first foray into the screen print market with "Watt Boy"… and quite the impression this slick character makes. Printed on 12" x 18" heavy archival paper, the design is limited to 50 signed and numbered copies and (appears) to be a three-color pass: black, gray, and yellow. I really like the clean style this is done in, but it is the lightbulb used for the "o" in the title that really gets me… nothing we haven't seen before, but done just so right here that it stands out. Each copy is reasonably priced at $45 and available over at Vinyl Purgatory right now.

Alarment's "M'Icky" Mickey Mouse custom for the Play Imaginative x Disney show!

Isn't that a nice sight to wake-up to every morning? I don't know how my girlfriend does it… no, wait, not a picture of me; rather an amazing custom by Allan Armenta aka Alarment for the Play Imaginative x Disney Custom Mickey Mouse Showcase. Let's take a better (but not closer) look at Alarment's "M'Icky" piece:
Look carefully at all that sculpted detail and, if you didn't know, this is essentially one massive sculpt, since so little of the original platform shows through. I love the textured skin created during the painting almost as much as the carefully crafted eyes, eyelids, nose and mouth; absolutely stunning to gaze at. But the shirt is what did me in; the wrinkles and folds in the pants and shirt are super strong, but the little touch of the shirt being half tucked in and the tie being disheveled was what honestly put this over the top for me. I actually wouldn't want to own this piece… because I'd be constantly mistaking it for an actual monster in my house. Yes, it is seriously that good of a custom job.

Alexbreak's "Moodees Friendlees" custom Qee for the So So Happy x Toy2r Show!

We all know the famous line from Star Wars, where Admiral Ackbar proclaims "It's a trap!" To me, doing a custom in a split view — or Two-Face-esqe — manner has always been the toy customizer's trap, since it is such a deceptively easy concept but oh-so-hard to make look completely correct. For his piece from the upcoming So So Happy x Toy2r touring custom Qee group show, Alexbreak takes a mighty fine stab at a split view character… but, like many before him, the line down the middle is just too clear to ignore. This is a Yin-Yang hybridization idea, that So So Happy's vision of Friendlees and Moodees are diametric opposites… each required to define the other, while also balancing out the affects of the other. I love a lot of the little touches, like how cloud on the back of the head looks — especially showing the source of the rain on either side — and the flowers on the front legs. Even how the 8" Bunny Qee ears were used, with the tiny ears painted inside and the remainder being… well… frighteningly cute. But, at the end of the day, there is a big ol' line down the middle; sorry, no matter how strong the rest is that's always going to bother me.
