Morphik - Wearable art featuring Junko Mizuno, Bob Dob, Dust, Nathan Ota, and more... AWESOME!

Have you ever wanted to rock your favorite artists art on your wrist... well, now you can thanks to Morphik... with some serious style I might add! Inventing jewelry that combines both authentic artwork and rich, relevant fashion fabrications, the pieces present an innovative outlet for expression. Morphik’s signature offering is a group of unisex bracelets... nice and thick, almost like newer watch styles, feature authentic images of interchangeable artworks. Printed on genuine fine art paper and placed under a scratch resistant cover these renderings are set securely inside stainless steel frames, which are then dropped and locked magnetically into the branded wristbands. Band options include a variety of luxury skins in stylish colors, including Patent Leather, Vintage Cow, Natural Python and more.

Recognizing that art is subjective, the interchangeable artwork selection spans classifications ranging from Painting to Graffiti, Photography to Street Art and more. A convenient build-a-band tool on the companies website allows YOU to mix and match bands and artworks before ultimately selecting a combination for purchase. Each bracelet arrives in a beautiful window-front box for display. The artwork comes in a separate box in which it locks onto a chrome pedestal. The box then transforms into a frame, which can be hung on the wall as a work of art... they seriously though of EVERYTHING!!! They also donate a percentage of profits to affiliate art organizations as selected by the artists themselves. These look so great and for just starting out they have an amazing cast of artists... and I am sure that will grow. Head on over to their site HERE now to pick up some truly unique, wearable art pieces!

Matt Anderson's Incredible Custom Allepin Sane

This amazing piece was done by artist Matt Anderson on a Jermaine Rogers "Allepin Sane" bust, and Matt made something so unique and so bad ass that I'm having trouble finding adjectives to describe it. I mean just look at the pictures! In my opinion this is one of the best customs I've seen in a while, it's super original and the execution is top notch.
This beast also has clear sections that reveal the inner workings, including a red light-up heart that actually beats. So sick! I can't wait to see what else Matt comes up with next. Hit him up via facebook if you are interested in a commission or check out his page with lots more pics.

Lou Pimentel's "Lake Madison" painting for Earth Movement group show!

We previously announced the upcoming Earth Movement group art show, wherein artists are teamed up with a child they are related to. Lou Pimentel has graced us with a picture of his finished piece, done in collaboration with his 2-year-old daughter Madison (who painted the backgrounds). This watercolor, entitled "Lake Madison," almost seems to show a Loch Ness styled monster — vague in it's outline — swimming away from an empty boat. One could assume titling the piece "Lake Madison" refers to his daughter's name and the intended content of the painting… but it could also imply the cryptid known as the Lake Madison Monster, a massive serpent that supposedly dwells in the lakes adjacent to Madison, WI. I love how the abandoned boat is the sole manmade creation on the page… and there are no men in it. Perhaps nature (and the beasts that dwell in it) will outlive us all…

"Earth Movement" has a preview showing on March 1st & an opening reception on March 3rd and runs through March 22nd at Kokoro Studio, 682 Geary St., San Francisco, CA 94102. http://www.kokorostudio.us

AW177's custom Mickey Mouse for Play Imaginative's showcase.

Play Imaginative's Mickey Mouse custom showcase is shaping up nicely, as you can see with the above addition by AW177. This "Dragon Ninja" Mickey gives a nod to it being the Chinese 'Year of the Dragon' while decorating him in Japanese ninja attire. The sculpting looks great, and I especially love how the striking/climbing knives and nunchucks actually fit into the back slots on his belt. The black outlining around the gold accents is a bit thick for my taste, but it is all done superbly. Joining JFury's piece we revealed yesterday, this show has some beautifully done pieces that have diversity in their designs… what more can you ask for?

D3N!@L x 1xRUN's "I Was Here" original graffiti paintings!

Imagine you're a street artist, heading out under the cover of darkness to decorate barren walls with your graffiti voice. After pain-stakingly working on one piece, you head home — tired — to finally sleep. Unable to slumber, too excited to review your masterwork in the light of day, you return to the scene of last night's "crime" only to discover that your art has already been buffed over, leaving a stark white wall. If you actually are a graffiti artist, this situation is not hard to imagine… it happens quite regularly.

Canadian street artist D3N!@L — alternately called DENIAL — knows this feeling well and it is the inspiration behind his "I Was Here" original painting series. DENIAL, in association with 1xRUN, has created 50 copies of this piece on 12" x 12" wood panels, using spray paint, acrylics, gesso, and urethane to craft his message. And, of course, each piece is signed on the reverse.

I personally love that 1xRUN is doing more and more with street artists and original pieces, so please help encourage them to continue the trend… DENIAL's "I Was Here" can be purchased HERE for a mere $75; very cheap, considering it is original art.

Rampage Toys's "Animal Farm" is a zoo full of colorful sofubi critters!

Jon M. of Rampage Toys has been quietly and slowly accumulating tons of sofubi (soft Japanese vinyl) animals — or animal-based designs — over the past couple of months. And, as you can see above, he's collected quite the strange menagerie of critters. Jon's custom painted them all up and will release them in his web shop this Friday at 7PM EST. But what exactly is there? Well…

  • Three (3) Gargamel Katope birdies;
  • a Boris the Bee (Gargamel x Bwana Spoons collab.);
  • a Kikkake Zou-chan one-off;
  • a Kikkake Kuma-chan one-off;
  • three (3) "Kame Collection" turtles; and
  • five (5) Kikkake Zou-chans.

And Jon M. has gone nuts customizing these things. You can't tell in the picture, but these guys have had some serious work done on them… it just looks so professional that you think that's how they're supposed to be!

Rampage Toys's "Sofubi Animal Farm" custom series will be released on Friday, March 2nd at 7PM EST and be available exclusively through their web shop.

Ben the Illustrator releases six AlleyCats prints.

Ben the Illustrator has just launched a web store dedicated to his AlleyCats characters. At the moment, there are six prints available (shown above, clockwise L-R): Dreams, Imagination, Wisdom, Purity, Aspiration, and Focus. I like the modern psychedelic color schemes and the shape-driven designs, but the descriptions of the actual prints are a tad scant. They are "high-quality art prints" on Hahnemühle Ultra Smooth 100% Cotton paper that come signed and measure 350mm (~13.75in) x 473mm (~18.5in) for £22 (approx. $35) each. Based on the number of colors and the price point, I'm guessing these can't be silkscreen prints but are rather digital prints, probably giclées. I would've liked to see these be limited and numbered in addition to being signed, but I understand the appeal of the open edition. If you dig what you see and want an AlleyCat in your life, head on over to Ben the Illustrator's AlleyCats web shop.

Carson Catlin's "Hang by a Hare" custom for Nathan Hamill's Bellicosity show!

We've been having fun doing teases and reveals of pieces from the upcoming "Bellicosity" group custom show Nathan Hamill is putting together. One of the most intriguing has been Carson Catlin's Bellicose Bunny custom… simply because his teaser pic was so dark we could barely figure out what was happening. But he's treated us to clean pics of the finished product, which he's entitled "Hang by a Hare."

His typical fine cuts and intricate threadwork are all over this, and they do make for a powerful looking final piece. While other artists have been concerning themselves with creating a witty, humorous or creative take on the platform, Catlin just made it his own and did what he does best to it… going nuts with an x-acto and a needle. Finished result? Stunning…
The list of known artists in the show currently is: A Little Stranger, Carson Catlin, Chauskoskis, Cris Rose, Jon Paul Kaiser, Luke Chueh, Mikie Graham, OsirisOrion, Plaseebo, Rsin, and our own John "Spanky" Stokes.

"Bellicosity: The Bellicose Bunny Group Custom Show" will open on March 23rd and run through April 6th at the Toy Art Gallery (TAG), 7571 Melrose Ave. (corner of Melrose & Curson) Los Angeles, CA, 90046.

THARP's Custom Painted "Dunny Ears" Munny Accessory!

If you've ever bought a DIY Munny figure, then you know each one comes with accessories… one of which is the Dunny Ears cap. Well, THARP decided to customize just those caps. So far he's done only two of them (as seen above), but he confided in us that this "may be one of my favorite things to customize so far" — which probably means he'll do some more in the future. But that doesn't mean sleep on it, with those cool, block colors and slick, stylized lines… these aren't going to stick around for very long. You can buy the more colorful one (on the left above) HERE or the closer to monotone design (on the right above) HERE.

Matt JOnes x Niels de Jong's "SOLE with Personali’Tea" drops tonight?!?

Last year — for Matt JOnes's birthday — Lunartik Studio partner Niels de Jong created a custom "Lunartik in a SOLE" (pic HERE), which was a mash-up of JOnes's "Lunartik in a Cup of Tea" and de Jong's "SOLE" platforms. Evidently JOnes really liked the piece, since the duo have been working on a limited run to sell through the Lunartik web shop. The above teaser pic is of an actual piece from this "SOLE with Personali'Tea" series, which is limited to 16 signed & numbered blind boxes… 15 of which will contain the unique figures and the final chase being a custom made by Matt JOnes. They go on sale tonight at 9PM GMT exclusively at the Lunartik web shop and will cost you £65 (approx. $105) each.

***UPDATE*** Matt JOnes has posted an image for the release now (shown below) and the proper name appears to be "Lunartik in a SOLE" as opposed to the name we listed above… Matt JOnes also calls this "Series 1," which certainly implies that future sets will follow. He also does note that "there’s 15 of them for sale!" while de Jong states that there are "15 unique pieces + 1 guest custom made by Matt JOnes" — which is where we got our 16 blind boxed figure count. Perhaps there are 15 for sale and the custom is a golden ticket item…
