Customs 8" Calavera Dunny by JC Rivera
J.C. Rivera continues to not grow the amount of customs he creates, but in my opinion continues to grow as an artists as each new piece that he puts out gets better and better! With his latest custom, one fan commissioned him to "do-up" an 8" Jesse Hernandez Dunny Calavera... and that he did! This piece is based on the smaller 3" version he created HERE last month... a home run for sure!Oh, and if you are diggin J.C.'s style, hit up his store HERE as he has some rad customs up for grabs!

Attaboy's The Polka Dots: Learn To Dance (the Polka) Children's Book
Hi-Fructose Magazine co-founder Attaboy has started a Kickstarter campaign to finance his new children's book, The Polka Dots: Learn To Dance… and, of course, the dance they learn is the Polka. Designed to be shaped like a polka dot, this seems like a rather cool little project with some great rewards — including original Attaboy artwork.
Check out the actual mock-up of the board book that Attaboy constructed, showing off how adorable the final result will surely be. Help finance this project HERE.

Custom "Red Skull" Munny by David Kraig
Newcomer to the whole custom vinyl toy scene, David Kraig, just sent over some info on one of his first pieces... yeah, you read that right... this is one of his first customs! This piece, titled "Red Skull", is a custom 7" Munny customized to resemble Captain America's arch nemesis... and David did a fantastic job! He used Super Sculpy for the sculpt and acrylic paint along with his air brush to put down some finishing touches! Some serious detail work went into this piece... just look at the clothing, and the face... WOW! He tells us that a "Captain America" will soon follow. I am looking forward to seeing more from him, and if you dig what you see, this piece is up for grabs HERE right now... a great custom to grab!

Bobby Grossman's "Low Fidelity" opening w/ Shepard Fairey/Obey Giant piece
Bobby Grossman's "Low Fidelity: Photographs 1975-1983" opens tonight at the Vertu Fine Art Gallery in Boca Rotan, FL. Grossman, upon graduating from RISD and moving to NY, found himself entrenched in the New Wave/No Wave music, art & fashion scene that was burgeoning. Camera in hand, Grossman was able to capture the time period perfectly by photographing such notables as David Bowie, Debbie Harry, Jean-Michel Basquiat, The Talking Heads (the bandmembers of which Grossman had attended college with), The B-52's, Ramones, William S. Burroughs, TV Party, Andy Warhol's The Factory, CBGB, The Mudd Club and Downtown 81. In addition, his collaborative piece with Shepard Fairey will be on display as well. A book of the works in the show will also be available.
"Low Fidelity" opens on February 16th and runs through March 16th at Vertu Fine Art, 5250 Town Center Circle, Suite 128, Boca Raton, Florida 33486. http://www.vertufineart.com/

A flurry of 'rainbowful' customs by Nebulon5
Mike aka Nebulon5 has been keeping himself really busy with customizing a ton of kaiju... and just loaded into his online store are the fruits of his labor, and by fruits I mean color, and by color I mean WOW! Check out his "Skittles" Tripus, "Candy Land" Grody Monster, "Dr. Frankenstein's" Grody Monster, and his "Stinky Pinky" Mummy Boy... all of which are up for grabs HERE. Go now, these won't last long... and even though those colors make you want to lick them... doing so is not recommended :-)

Artist designed watches with LED flare!!!
It appears that everyone has caught the watch bug... and the folks over at LTD EDN Projects in collaboration with Seahope Watches are stoked to announce they have a brand new series of art inspired timepieces, all of which are designed by artists that you love! These striking time pieces come with a high quality finishing and feature a sweet stitch design along with a futuristic LED faceplate arrangement. Those involved with the first series are: Pale Horse (USA), Shin Tanaka (Japan), Jon Burgerman (UK), eBoy (Germany and Canada), Japi Honoo (Italy) and BEASTMAN (Australia)! Each watch is limited to 100 pieces and will be made available worldwide and every watch will be numbered with a quote reflecting the project from Martin Luther King, making this watch rare and collectable. I really dig all of these designs, and although I am not normally one for LED display units... these really work for me, and the broad watch band really allows for the artists design to shine. Look for these at most designer toy retailers for around $185 a piece.

KingQuan's "Sora the Sky Dragon" custom Munny
It's been a really long time since we have heard, let alone seen, something new from artist Quan Vu aka KingQuan... but it looks like his hiatus is over! On display, and still up for grabs HERE, is his latest custom Munny that he created for Dragatomi's "Year of The Dragon" show. Titled "Sora", she is an adorable little sky dragon that features a ton of bright colors and shapes. I really do dig Quan's painterly style... and this cutesy theme really works. Head on over HERE now to snag this piece up, as well as many other rad pieces from this show!

Shepard Fairey/Obey Giant, Ron English, Kenny Scharf & Robbie Conal guest star on The Simpsons
Twenty-three seasons in and just as funny as ever! Yup, we're talking about The Simpsons. The March 4th episode (S23E15) is entitled "Exit Through The Kwik-E-Mart," a playful jest on Banksy's Exit Through The Gift Shop, and will feature Shepard Fairey, Ron English, Kenny Scharf and Robbie Conal guest voicing themselves.
The plot will revolve around Bart and his sidekick Milhouse plastering Homer's unflattering image all over Springfield and, when the duo are caught in the act by the guest street artists, Bart's invited to exhibit his street art in a gallery show.

The "Kim" has left the building...
Artist Frank Kozik continues to bust out busts... and his latest satire is on the late Kim Jong-Il. This North Korean dictator passed away earlier this year and you gotta love the mashup that Kozik did with Elvis and Jong-Il... or should I say "Ilvis" :-)! Posted up via his Facebook page, Frank states that this should see the light of day later on this year... and initially there is no word on if this will be seen as a bronze or a fiberglass piece first... or if it will make the jump straight to vinyl! I am looking forward to seeing different iterations of this... but in the meantime, lets get prepped for Kozik's "Gipper" bust, making the debut this month!

Frank Kozik's Nervous Cosmonaut Bear Qee take 2?
Back in 2005, Frank Kozik designed a limited edition Bear Qee called the "Nervous Cosmonaut," which was only available at DKNY's Madison and Soho Stores, Toy2R Expo, and Yoyamart. Then, early this morning, Kozik posted the above image — also entitled the "Nervous Cosmonaut" — to his Facebook photo gallery. While the two Bear Qee's share the same name, this new version is far more detailed than the original. And, is it just me or are the ears on backwards, implying that the head is supposed to be turned around? This could be a sneak peak at an upcoming production design from Toy2R, a rejected project from Kozik, or something else; more information will be provided as it is given.
1xRUN releases Ron Zakrin's custom paint cans
1xRUN has made their name with producing outstanding quality, limited edition prints by diverse artists. But the above items aren't prints, they are hand-painted paint cans by Ron Zakrin. Each one is a unique, three-dimensional painting that wraps around the entire can. From left to right, clockwise: Under the Milky Way, Hermes, Subvert, Nikolai, and Don't Fear the Reaper. At $250 each, these are actually quite the steal for a piece of Zakrin artwork.

Lou Pimentel's TMNT piece for the "Gag Me With A Toon 4" show
Above is Lou Pimentel's amazing 17" x 22" watercolor painting on paper entitled "One is the Loneliest Number." Created for WWA Gallery's upcoming "Gag Me With A Toon 4" art show, this piece shows such a breadth of emotion, the adolescent fear and feeling of isolation palpable on the page. And, of course, the implications of growing up by contrasting the obviously handmade Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle costume against the seemingly real Sai that the child is holding… speaking to that awkward time we all go through where the fancy flights of youth are slowly abandoned for the grim realities of life.
"Gag Me With A Toon 4" opens on March 17th and runs through April 14th at the WWA Gallery, 9517 Culver Blvd., Culver City, CA 90232. http://www.wwagallery.com/
The show will feature: Aaron Mason, Alex Garcia, Ashley Fisher, Aimee Keuster, Aya Masuda, Alex Pardee, Arty Perez, Brent Nolasco, Brian Viveros, Cameron Davis, Carlos Ramos, Chris Gliebe, Chris Prynoski, Craig Edmonds, Dan Quintana, Daniel Galvez, Erik Alos, Danni Shinya Luo, Dave Hill, Dave MacDowell, Deph, Desiree Fessler, Florian Graf, Gear, Graham Curran, Gunnar, Gaylord, Gustavo Rimada, Hezza Carlton, Holly Payne, Honkey Kong, Jasmine Worth, Jason Gallo, Jeffery Page, Jessica Lopez, Jhonen Vasquez, Johnny Vampotna, Johnny Crap, Jon Chase, Jon Schnepp, Jonathan Wayshak, Justin Bloomer, Jim Mahfood, Joka, JR Goldberg, Joseph Reyna, Justin Schaefer, Kiething, Lola, Lou Pimentel, Mac N Zie, Matt Ritchie, Maxx242, Meats Meier, Mike Clem, Mike Kelley, Misaki Sawada, Miss Mindy, Munk One, Nathan Hamill, Robert Bowen, Rob Faucette, Roman Dirge, Scott Gordon, Shannon Prynoski, Steven Daily, Suzy Splab, The Chung, Tom Haubrick, Tomi Monstre, Travis Louie, Vinnie Cacciotti, and more.

Ferg's new Scuba Squadt? Teaser pic & speculation
Ferg posted the above teaser to his Twitter feed yesterday, but with no word as to what it was. It appears to be a Scuba Squadt, dressed in a sweet diving suit complete with flippers on his feet, an underwater knife in his hand, and a harpoon gun behind him. While this might be a custom, my guess is that it is the next Squadt release proper; we'll update you as we learn more. **UPDATE** according to Vinylgoddess, keeper of all things Circus Posterus, she tells us that this figure is named "Fr0g"... very fitting to say the least.

The new Japanese-American pact: Secret Base x Spongebob Squarepants… x-ray style
The ever-cool and popular Japanese vinyl company Secret Base has officially licensed Spongebob Squarepants from Nickelodeon. The result? The very cool looking, forthcoming X-Ray Spongebob seen above — available in full X-Ray or half versions. It looks like something Scott Wilkowski would create, but the real question is: how long until KAWS customizes one?
