Yoskay Yamamoto's "Joke's On Me" at LeBasse Projects.

Artist Yoskay Yamamoto has been slowly working on some customs, lots of customs in fact. Taking classic toys and figures, he's been remodeling and remixing them using everything from clay to resin, plaster to paint, vinyl to wood. The results show tradition pop culture re-envisioned through the Yamamoto-tinted looking glass.

These pieces collectively will be displayed as the solo show "Joke's On Me." As you can see in the above pictures, pieces will include takes on such icons as the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man, the Big Boy Burgers mascot, Hello Kitty, Frosted Flakes's Tony the Tiger, and even the Jolly Green Giant. In the end, who is the joke really on? You, me, the artist, or the culture he is manipulating.

Yoskay Yamamoto's "Joke's On Me" opens on March 24th with an artists reception from 7PM to 10PM and runs through April 21st at LeBasse Projects, 932 Chung King Rd., Los Angeles, CA 90012.
