FERG's 'Black Chrome' Custom Trouble Boy for TRIGGER @ Stranger Factory
Well get a load of this: as Squadt fans collectively rejoice over the notion of FERG customizing a posse of Trouble Boys, he further ups the ante by busting out metal-infused paints. Seriously. We're talking metal that's worked into paint through a "true-metal deposition paint process." What this means: the skull on this guy shimmers like the fender on Frank Kozik's Charger. What this means for you and I: a damn beautiful custom to magpie next month. TRIGGER opens Jan. 6th at Stranger Factory.

"If You Blink, You'll Miss It": Quim Tarrida's Solo Show @ Toy Art Gallery 12/09/2011
"If You Blink, You'll Miss It" is the artist Quim Tarrida's first exhibition in the United States, and Toy Art Gallery is proud to be hosting such a show... and what an interesting one it is! This project is part of the Sub-heroes Project, which includes a large part of the artist's multi-disciplinary production from the past few years. The title is derived from a film industry jargon term, which is used to refer to subliminal images inserted in some sequences, and which are imperceptible to the naked eye.
The exhibition consists of an approach to the personal universe of Quim Tarrida, which he himself calls the Subcutanian World, a microcosm inhabited by strange, metamorphic and viral beings, true anti-heroes on the verge of the uncanny. Projections of the self or of Neo-pop alter egos, ultra-world characters, compose a unique and prodigious imaginary, and attain form through a series of sculptural pieces, limited ceramic editions, and drawings, notable among which are classical pieces from his iconography, such as Subsub Family, The Soldier, Subcutanian Ninja, Oh Gaar, or his latest productions, Relaxing in Blue and The Monkey Knows.
The show titled "If You Blink, You'll Miss It" starts this Friday, December 9th, 2011 and will be up until December 30th... making it the last TAG show of 2011! The opening reception goes down from 7pm-11pm on December 9th... so if you are in the LA area, don't miss out on this show as you can very well see it may be one of the more unique art shows to hit the designer toy scene!

"High & Dry" custom by Task One
Task who?!?!?! Yep, you read it right folks, Task One is back in action after moving from place to place he is finally hanging his hat in the great state of Colorado, has his studio up and running and is back to creating AWESOME customs, and above is his first one outta the gates! This custom Coarse Toys "Jaws" figure has totally been reinterpreted by Task, in a way that has not been done yet by any other artist out there and how SWEET did this turn out!?!?! This was completed as a commission for a KR boardie, who y the way was very patient with task... but I think they have got to be stoked with he end result. Who would have ever thought to use the shark helmet as an actual shark busting outta the water with the main figure in the mouth... soooo clever! I am really happy to see Task back in action and I look forward to the next email he sends over with more custom work!

Jesse Hernandez's "Calavera Azteca" Dunny
Previously posted HERE as a partial teaser, Kidrobot just revealed the full, AMAZING, new Dunny designed by Jesse Hernandez... and holy cow is this thing impressive!!!! Titled the "Calavera Dunny" this awesome piece of urban Aztec art is set to drop December 15, 2011 at Kidrobot stores, kidrobot.com and select retailers for just $75 a piece... see guys, Kidrobot does care about your wallets :-) This 8" Dunny may just be one of the coolest ones I have seen in a long time... I really love how the feathers tie into the already existing Dunny ears giving it an almost ceremonial headdress look... and how can you not dig those classic 'Hernandez' colors! It's going to be limited to 1,000 pieces worldwide and along with the release is a mini-signing tour where Jesse will hit up San Francisco, Los Angeles and New York, December 14-16 and each event will go from 6-8pm. That’s what’s up!
