Camilla d'Errico's "Kuro" figure gets the glass treatment thanks to Bling Squared

So check this out, the folks over at Bling Squared - who hand sculpt toy and anime inspired glass charms - have always been huge fans of Camilla d'Errico's work... in fact they felt so strongly that she had influenced them that they sent her a unique hand crafted glass sculpture charm as a gift... and that's all it took (good business if you ask me). Camilla promptly emailed them and suggested the first collaboration - the Kuro in his 'Poodle' form.

The collaboration worked out amazingly - the Kuro design lent itself so well to glass and the techniques they had collected to make their own designs. So Bling Squared decided on a limited edition run of 250 pieces... and each one of these guys comes with a numbered and signed certificate of authenticity. Just check out that video above to really get some appreciation on how each one is made individually! The Kuro was such a hit that last year they teamed up again to create Camilla's Kuro 'Specter' figure... and who knows what might be next? It's cool to see these figures get love in other artist mediums, and if you dig what you see you can pick them up from Camilla's online store HERE or directly from Bling Squared HERE!

*Opening tonight* The Gumpy Show @ Gunnzo

The Gumpy Show will take place at Gunnzo in San Diego TONIGHT October 8th at 7pm. The list of artists is packed full of talent, and the thing that sets this show apart from other shows is the concept of connecting the artist directly with the collector. What does that mean? It means no commission or gallery markup is placed on any of the pieces in the show. This ensures the pieces are priced reasonably and the artist gets all the money for their hard work and effort. Some other cool things included in the show will be a limited edition print done by Skinner that is free to the first 20 guests. Tabe barbeque featured on the food network will be serving up their Asian-Mexican fusion for our guests. DJ JoeMama will be keeping the party going with good music and for those 21+ there will be beer and wine.

This promises to be one of the biggest little shows that San Diego has seen in a while. The following is a list of the talent featured in the show, in addition to 50 Gomis customized by people all over the USA. And not only customs by Gumpy himself, but original artwork in some unique mediums: Frank Kozik, Beast Brothers, Skinner, J*Ryu, Nebulon 5, Marka27, NST, Saner, Pon, Ritzy Periwinkle, Dodgrr, SpankyStokes, Rhoby, Gary Ham, DrilOne, Leecifer, Task One, Andrew Bell, Paul Kaiju, Sketchbot, J.E.C., Shane Jessup, Ryan the Wheelbarrow, Sisterrez, 2bithack, BabyVtec, Gatchabert, J222, Scribe, Gumpy, Uncle, and Plastic Booty... and with a roster like that you know there is going to be some quality pieces! See you there!!!

"Lurking in the Orange" a group exhibition showcasing the love (and fears) of Halloween!

Artist Aaron Crawford got together with Gaartdensity Gallery owner, and tattoo artist Jesse Vaughn, to put together a HUGE art show where he could get local artists to express their loves and fears of Halloween, no matter how absurd or weird the ideas may be. The show started with about 10 artists involved, and has grown to over 25 artists showing, with a wide array of mediums including drawing, painting, sculpture, and CANDY! This show is looking to be the biggest display of horror and fun this town has seen all year. Artists include: Aaron Crawford, Porkchop, Sydney Marie, Tena Aceto, Jay Jacobs, Brian Stewart, and a TON of other amazing people who are sure to either A: Terrify you and make you cover your eyes. or B: Make you vomit in your own mouth from fear of the nightmare they created in their medium... so if you're in the Georgia / South Carolina area, we hope to see you there!
