Sket-One's "Braaap!" Exhibition... in Alaska!!!!!
If only I moved my Alaska fishing trip a few months later I would have been up in 'God's Country" for Sket-One's upcoming "Braaap!" Exhibition which is being hosted by the University of Alaska in Anchorage at the KIMURA Gallery! It's such a rare opportunity for that part of the world to be exposed to the designer toy culture, let alone have one of the artists at the forefront of the scene visit and do a lectures for those students, making this an event not to be missed!
Opening on Monday, October 3rd 2011, this show/lecture will be a retrospective of Sket's work and on display as well are a bunch of new pieces including canvases and customs! Check out the above video teaser to get a glimpse of what to expect, and for more info on this event be sure to hit up Sket's Facebook page HERE, and if you are in the Anchorage area... don't miss this!

"Urinating PandaPot" sketch teaser from Luke Chueh
Remember those really cool functional art pieces by Angry Woebots and J★RYU titled "Rucky BamBoo"... well artist Luke Chueh just posted up a quick sketch as a spin off from this piece and states "Sketch for a bamboo pot (complete with urinating panda) inspired by Woebots “Rucky Bamboo”. To be produced by freshMANILLA (I think)" Details still seem like they are being worked out, but if that statement actually comes to fruition, and these get made... that would be awesome, hahaha! More news on this once it's released!

JPK's 'Pieces of Eight' Captain Sturbrau Figure!!!
First spotted in prototype form HERE, Jon-Paul Kaiser teamed up with Toy2R on a brand new venture, to take the 5" Mini-Qee platform and completly rework it into an amazing new figure... and today we have the first look at JPK's "Captain Sturnbrau" silver/black 'Pieces of Eight’ edition! This stoic fella will be extremely limited and will debut during NYCC at the Toy2R / Tenacious Toys booth #876... and as a bonus, JPK will also be making his way across 'the pond' and will be signing at the booth on Saturday, Oct 15th at high noon! I love pirates, I love JPK... this is a win/win in my book!

"Bitsumo" the resin Sumo by DaiBot @ NYCC 2011
A quick little update from Dai Tran aka DaiBot, the man behind the upcoming resin "Bitsumo" figure... and it's an exciting one as he tells us that the first run of resin figures will drop this year at NYCC 2011 via his booth #579 in the Cultyard. These will be available in two versions, "Original" and "Dark" and are all 100% hand cast in resin by lead toy maker at Mcfarlane Toys, Mike Gulen! These sand just 4" tall but pack quite a punch with 7 articulated parts and hand tied Mawashis! Pricing and quantity are still TBD, but I am really excited for this release... how say you?!?!?!

'Clears with Guts' Ugly Unicorns?!?!?!
Jon from Rampage Toys is loving having his own vinyl figure, and most recently had a batch of clear vinyl "Ugly Unicorns" pulled, which in turn started the crative juices flowing, and as you can see from the above picture, he is working on a series of 'Clears with Guts'!!! This will probably make its debut in January of 2012, but you can look forward to seeing some clear painted versions for NYCC 2011!
