Skinner's "The Fragile Art of Existence" solo show @ Shooting Gallery 8/6/2011
For his upcoming solo show at Shooting Gallery in San Francisco titled "The Fragile Art of Existence", Skinner has been slaving away with his new body of works! Opening this Saturday, August 6th 2011, this show will be Skinner’s first solo exhibition at Shooting Gallery, and will feature a new direction for Skinner as he has self-admittedly been taking risks, and making work outside of his comfort zone, he has not been rushed or pressured while prepping the works for this exhibition... and it shows... his new work is amazing, so much more fluid and precise... and seeing them in person is a whole new experience that you will not want to miss! Be sure to head on out This Saturday from 7pm-11pm for the opening reception to meet the man behind the madness... and if you can't make it out then, no worries, as this show will be up and on display until August 27th!

New Limited Edition Acrylic Toys from Zagal
The Mexico based company Zagal recently held a contest for series 1 of their new acrylic art toy, and the winners have been chosen and the toys have been created! Here are all thirteen of the winners and their toys, which were made on this a 5.5" clear acrylic base. These retail for $80 and are limited to 10 pieces each. They can be picked up by contacting Zagal HERE. Check out this awesome online portfolio about Zagal and all the artists involved. So what do you all think... I really dig the medium and the translucent nature but something about these remind me of MAD*l's... only difference really is the arms. Hit the jump to see all of them close up!

The beginnings - a work in progress - of Luke Chueh's “B.U.D.” he is designing for Jamungo
Just posted up on Luke Chueh's site was this rough illustration that he is comping out for his own B.U.D. design that will hopefully/eventually be produced by Jamungo. I know a ton of fans in both Luke's and Jamungo's corner will be stoked if this comes to fruition! There is no other info other than what we see above, so just marinate on it until we have more further details :-)

MAQET is making moves with their "Dankeschoen" bear by Shin and Nao
Shin and Nao have collaborated on the first in a series of Artist Edition "Dankeschoen" bears designed exclusively for MAQET... who by the way are starting to really embrace the designer toy culture and this figure is one of many others involved in this! What makes this unique is the process as these are created via 3D printing and infused with Plastin®, a powder like substance that uses no waste and combines plastic and porcelain! Above is Patchwork version of this bear and it will be available starting TODAY, August 4th in a limited edition of 25 pieces. Each one stands 4.5" tall and can be picked up HERE for only $50 each. Oh, and is Patchwork not your style, you can design your own bear... kinda like a digital DIY over on MAQET.com.
