Carlos East. On top of that, this event is being moderated by the one and only Nichole “Baroness” East where some of the topics that will be discussed will be History of Custom Toys, Character Design, Material Application, Priming and Finishing Techniques, Application Demonstrations, and of course presentations by both artists followed by a Q&A session. This is a chance to learn how to customize vinyl toys, and included with the membership is an 8” Munny for you to customize along with all of the materials you will need to create an amazing custom including Paint, Pens, Fabric, Flock, etc! Gearing up for his first solo show in Los Angeles, Indonesian artist
Arkiv Vilmansa is ready to rock the walls at
Toy Art Gallery as they are proud to present "Escapist"
. This show opens on Friday, August 5th 2011 and will feature new works, sculptures, limited edition prints and the release a new figure called "The Sumo"... a menacing looking figure that is towering over a pile of bones!
One of the really cool things about this show is that Arkiv will be making the long trip from Indonesia and will be attending opening night where he will be doing a signing and live painting... you won't want to miss this, and just check out some of the custom toys and paintings above... stellar work for sure!

Simone of
Tokodoki just designed an exhibition for the
K11 mall in Hong Kong and it’s literally HUGE deal. There are several of Simone’s character art created as sculptures... and these beasts are over 16 feet tall, as well as various other sculptures that are hanging from the ceiling... this is a sight to see!
According to Simone, it all centers around the theme of Art/People/Nature with a specific emphasis on coffee and wine... haha! This exhibit is going to be on display until September 30th... and on top of the amazing art installation there is also a

We have been seeing recent trends of toy companies who are primarily known for a certain style/type of toy break away from that mold and help artists realize their dreams of creating their own figure... and that is exactly what
Toy2R did with their latest commissioned release of
Bol Ventitre's "SQUIDDY PROJECT". This stylized vinyl figure was of Squiddy is based on the logo concept of the toy shop in Roma, Italy named "
Squid Ink" and is limited to only 500 pieces and measures 6.5" tall, and although this figure will initially be available in Italy this September, you can contact Bol via his website
HERE to get your own! I see alot of customizes using this figure as it has alot of potential... it should be fun to watch as customs roll out in the very near future!

HERE... and hot damn does this look good! Erick always does a fantastic job on these pieces and the super stylized, cartoonish like sculpt is very spot on to what we have previously seen

The vinyl figure will be introduced in two colorways: the OG "original" colorway which is standard edition and the "Naughty Dog" colorway which is limited to 500pcs worldwide. Each figure comes packaged in blister tray with window box. More will be revealed shortly... so all you Uncharted fans... what are your thoughts on this figure?

The Given Collective has just sent over info and images of a custom that he recently created for an upcoming custom toy show being held at
Toitoy in South Africa. The title for this piece is “The Golden Age” and according to Abe, was supposed to be all about old school when TV’s still had that wood look and he captured the classic cartoon "Steamboat Willie" cartoon with some additional flair! This 10" MAD*l custom, along with others will be on display starting today, August 2nd at the Toitoy Shop and then will be made available on the
ToiToy website on Saturday August 6th!
